My Little Ponies

At lunch today my friend was telling me about this site that has my little ponies converted to people like Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson. So after searching online I found the site. It's amazing! Check it out! Go under sculptures on her website. I've posted a picture of her Lady Gaga My Little Pony. Isn't it amazing?

New year ahead

I can't believe 2009 is almost over (one more day) and it's going to be 2010. Where did the year go? I'm looking forward to some new movies next year and some new books.

Books: Well maybe it's just one buy Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris comes out May 4, 2010. It is the newest book in the Southern Vampire Series. Also coming out next year is Burned by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast, coming out April 27, 2010. It is the newest book in the House of Night Series. Another book coming out is Kiss of Death by Rachel Caine, out on May 4, 2010. It is the newest book in the Morganville Vampire Series.

Movies: There are a few movies I'm excited about. One coming out soon is Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, which is based on a series by Rick Riordan. The movie comes out February 12, 2010. The book series is about a boy, Percy Jackson that finds out he's a demi-god, which means one of his parents is an Olympian God (think Zeus, Po…

The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

I got an e-mail newsletter from Nintendo DS (yeah I'm a dork) a couple of weeks ago saying that the new Zelda game was coming out on December 8th. I was super excited about it. I was planning to wait to buy it until after Christmas since I did add it to my list and hinted to Dan that I really wanted it. He had already bought me a gift (I think he got me Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box game). But then I was looking at the Sunday ads (Dec. 13th) and noticed that Target had Zelda on sale for $25. What a deal! The game is regularly $34.99. I went to Michael's with my mother-in-law to help her pick out gifts for my sister-in-law and then we swung by Target. I had to pick up some prescriptions and other stuff and I bought my game. Of course I got home and it was lunch time and X noticed the new game and wanted me to play it. So I started playing it and it's a lot of fun. It's pretty similar to Phantom Hourglass, except this time you get to drive a train arou…

I apologize for my lack of Heroes recap last week. I guess I was busy and forgot to recap it and then I remembered and thought too late. The episode was not good and did not leaving me wanting more. I thought since it was the last episode of the year they would leave a nice cliffhanger at the end so we really look forward to when the show comes back in January. But that was not done. But one thing I am looking forward to in January is the return of Chuck. Also Lost will be starting back up in January.

I can't believe Christmas is a little over two weeks away. I do have most of my Christmas shopping done. I am waiting for a couple of things to arrive that I got at amazon. Also will be sending my Christmas cards out this week. I got them all addressed, I just have to sign them and put them in the envelopes. I have to stop at the post office to get some stamps though.

Harry Potter comes out this week but I'm not sure if I should buy it because it's on my Christmas l…

Heroes - Thanksgiving (11/23)

It's Thanksgiving for all the heroes.

Noah is having Thanksgiving at his house. Claire is coming and so is Sandra and her boyfriend Doug. While shopping at the grocery store he runs into his old partner (the one he almost had an affair with). They get to talking and he invites her to Thanksgiving and she in turn helps him cook the meal. At the table Claire has a meltdown. She wants to drop out of school and in front of Doug she cuts her arm and he faints. Noah talks to her and tells her she has options and shows her the compass. She of course steals it and guess who comes to dinner, it's Gretchen. Noah invited her because he knew how much she meant to Claire. They go in the car together and Claire says they're not going back to school but will be using the compass to find Samuel. Looks like they're going on a road trip.

Nathan(Sylar) and Peter are having Angela over for Thanksgiving dinner. She arrives and Peter demands answers. She sits down with them and te…

New Moon

I went to go see it Saturday night. We got there 1/2 hour before the show started and had to wait in line to get into the theater. Luckily we already had out tickets (someone ran out and bought them Thursday night). The theater was pretty full and I noticed a lot of little kids (like 10 year old girls) there. There were a bunch of previews before the movie. The movie Lovely Bones looks good. The book has been on my book list for a while.
I thought the movie was great, a lot better than Twilight. I liked how they followed the book pretty well and filled in some gaps. The werewolves were great and I loved the special effects that they did on them. The volturi were great and I loved Aro. They guy that played him (Michael Sheen) was great, he was also great in Underworld (he played Lucian, a Lycan). You could really feel the emotions, especially when Edward left and the tension between Bella and Jacob. I loved when Alice came back and the bickering between her and Jacob. I do …

Heroes - Brother's Keeper (11/16)

It was a good episode and we got some background on Samuel.

Claire is over at Noah's place doing some laundry and Tracy shows up. Her powers are out of control and she came to Noah for help. Claire helps her out, gives her a hot bath then makes her some tea. Tracy accidentally freezes Claire and rips her foot off. Tracy freaks out but Claire thaws out and tells her that she can heal herself. Her foot grows back. Her and Tracy talk and they talk about Samuel. Claire tells her she should go join the carnival since that seems to be what her body is telling her. Noah comes in while they're talking and that's about it.

Hiro is to go back in time and get a film strip that Mohinder burns. Mohinder is back in India teaching and he has a girlfriend. He still has a box of Chandra's stuff and she tells him to throw it out. He does but then digs it out and finds a film about Samuel. The film shows that Samuel is very powerful and that his powers increase exponentially wh…

Movie I liked

I watched a movie yesterday. I was home Monday and Tuesday with a sick kid, I was also sick myself. I had gotten a few movies from the library so I watched a couple and this one I really enjoyed. It's called Un Long DimanchedeFiancailles (A Very Long Engagement). Obviously it is a French movie, with English subtitles. The movie is from 2004 and it stars Audrey Tautou and it is directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. It is the story of Mathilde (Tautou) and it is set in the early 1900s in France. She is engaged to Manech, and he goes off to war and she hears that he has died. But she believes in her heart that Manech is still alive. So she investigates what exactly happened to him in hopes of finding him and reuniting with him. It's a fairly long movie, a little over two hours. It is similar to Amelie, another movie I really enjoyed. It is the same director and you can tell by watching the movie. It even has a few of the same actors as Amelie in it. I didn't think I w…

Heroes - Shadowboxing (11/09)

Just finished watching Heroes and I have a little time so I decided to put this up early.

Matt/Sylar are traveling in an airport made Sylar pack the guns. So it take Sylar 4 hours to talk his way out of going to jail, he is a cop. Then they get a flat tire on the way to NY because they can't fly. Matt and Sylar argue about who has control. A tow truck guy stops to help and just to show Matt he has control he kills him. Stuff him in the trunk and then they go eat at the Burn Toast Diner. Sylar is saying how he almost killed a waitress there (Charlie) and how he can kill the waitress now unless Matt tells him what happened to his body. After much back and forth, Matt tells him. Then as they're leaving cops come (Matt had made him doodle on a napkin that he had a gun and was going to kill everyone). Matt realized that the only way to keep Sylar from doing more harm was to die so he makes like he's pulling a gun and cops shoot him. He's loaded into an ambulance wh…

Heroes - Once Upon a Time in Texas (11/02)

Last night's episode takes us back to season 1. The day that Hiro met Charlie at the Burnt Toast Diner and the night that Sylar attacked Claire at Homecoming.

We see Hiro standing outside the diner and seeing Charlie. He knows he has to save her from dying. He hides out in the diner and we also see Sylar come in and Noah with his partner. Hiro decides to freeze time right before Sylar is about to kill Charlie. He puts Sylar in a bus and comes back and talks to Charlie, but before he does he realizes he just changed things and he never went back 6 months to meet her so he talks to himself and says he needs to go back. Samuel is also there messing with Hiro and telling him he can't change things. So he sets it all right and geos to talk to Charlie and she is weird because her aneurysm ruptured. So Hiro talks to Sylar and convinces him to save Charlie and he will tell him his future. Sylar saves Charlie and Hiro tells him he will acquire many abilities but he will die alo…

Check them out

There's this band called Garfunkel & Oates and I've been meaning to post about them for a long time. They are two women, Garfunkel (Riki Lindhome) and Oates (Kate Micucci). Kate was on Scrubs a while back, she played Gooch, the girl with the mandolin. Anyhow their music is really funny. You can listen to their music on their website and even download three of their songs for free. So check them out.

Heroes - Strange Attractors (10/26)

I didn't think this episode was that great and not a lot happened. I think I like following Peter and Hiro better.

Noah - He stuck around to help Jeremy, but the cops have arrested Jeremy. They say the kid is weird and he killed his parents. So Noah calls in Tracy to help since Jeremy needs next of kin to get him out. So Tracy becomes aunt Tracy and she talks to him. She tells him about her ability and how hard it is to control and how she relates to him. Outside Samuel comes to her and brings her to the carnival and tells her that Jeremy belongs there and so does she. He gives her the compass and tells her to use it when she wants to come. When she gets back to get Jeremy he is still scared/angry. On the way out there is a mob of people and one guy comes up to Jeremy and he touches him and kills him. This makes the cops bring him back in and especially two cops that take it upon themselves to punish him. They do this by dragging him behind a truck and therefore killing …

My teeth (or lack of) is healing. I went to the dentist last week and he said it was healing. I have three holes in my mouth (which I think is totally weird) that I have to clean with a little syringe thing after every meal. It is so gross how much food goes in there. I hope the holes close up soon.

Tonight is Heroes, but I'm recording it since Dan has a meeting at school tonight. Hopefully he gets home in time to watch it. It's actually better to watch it recorded after the kids go to bed because then I can watch it uninterrupted.

I'm thinking of watching that new show V that is starting next Tuesday on ABC. Looks kind of interesting, here is what it says the show is about:

The world has its first encounter with an alien race. Calling themselves the Visitors and promoting an agenda of peace, they seem to be friendly, but their congeniality may be a cover for a more malevolent agenda. FBI Counterterrorism Agent Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell) discovers a secret about …

Heroes - Tabula Rasa (10/19)

Good episode last night and we got to see some people use their abilities.

Peter - He brought Hiro to the hospital and we find out he has a brain tumor that is killing him. So Peter says that he will help him and heal him somehow. Emma has a lot of questions about abilities and Peter tells her to talk to Hiro about it. He teleports to Noah's apartment and since it's been a while since he has teleported he ends up in the bathroom. Claire is also there doing her laundry. So Noah finds a boy, Jeremy that can heal. Well at least he did when he was 13 years old and Noah visited him and had the Haitian wipe his memory. At Jeremy's house they find two dead parents and a bunch of dead plants. Then Jeremy starts shooting at them. Peter tries to be heroic and stops time but too late and gets shot. Jeremy says his ability is bad and all he does is kill everything he touches. Noah tells Jeremy he can heal him and he does. So Peter takes Jeremy's ability and flies back …

I had three wisdom teeth pulled yesterday morning. It took about 40 minutes and I was awake the whole time. I had some nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and they numbed my gums up a lot. I had headphones on and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I got home a little after ten and just sat on my chair and watched Season 4 of Supernatural. Once the Novocaine wore off I wasn't in too much pain. I was prescribed vicotin, but decided not to fill it. I didn't want want such a strong medication so I just stuck to ibuprofen. Today I'm doing fine and I can finally brush my teeth. But I'm still chipmunk cheeked.

Heroes - Hysterical Blindness (10/12)

Sylar - He really does look like Sylar now and he can't remember who he is. A psychologist tries to help him remember and a cop is impatient with him. They find out he's Gabriel Grey and that he's a murderer. Sylar says he's not a killer and uses his powers and escapes. He gets picked up by the psychologist who says she'll help him but he needs to turn himself in. The police find them and Sylar gets shot and he falls down a hill with psychologist. She sees him heal and then tells him to run.

Peter - He has lunch with his mother and she doesn't listen to him. He goes to work and on his way he saves Emma from getting hit by a car. She was too distracted by seeing sounds. Peter accidentally picks up her power because he can't run super fast anymore. He finds Emma at the hospital and tells her she has an ability and he picked hers up. She is skeptical and they play piano together and promise to have lunch together the next day. She goes home and play…

It snowed today and it's still snowing. I am not ready for winter yet. I had to get the had and gloves out as well as winter coats for the kids. Oh last week I did not get my wisdom teeth pulled. It is post-poned until this Wednesday since the surgeons were out with the flu. So now I'm going in Wednesday morning to get it done. Oh and X got strep throat on Friday so hopefully no one else in the family gets it.

Heroes - Acceptance (10/05)

Looks like they will be splitting up the character's stories each week. Which I think is better because we get more of their story at once.

Hiro - He is still dying and still determined to use his power to go back and change things. Kimiko asks him to give her away at the wedding and Hiro accepts. When Ando hears this he tells him that he might be dead by then and he needs to tell his sister the truth. Hiro gets a call from a former employee that is on the roof trying to kill himself. The reason he's trying to kill himself is because he got fired for copying in his butt and it has shamed his family. Hiro goes back and changes it for about 40 times and finally just talks to him and tells him he needs to find some other job and that he needs to tell the truth and do something he likes. This talk gets Hiro to talk to his sister and he tells her the truth. Then he gets a horrible headache then gets better and disappears.

Tracy - She gets ready and goes and gets her old job b…

I'm finally doing it

After having been told for many years that I need to get my wisdom teeth pulled I'm going to get them pulled next week. I got my top one pulled in November of last year because it was really bothering me. My top two were out so the one they pulled was fairly easy and just go yanked out. The other one on the top will be the same deal, but the bottom ones are not good. They are sitting sideways in my mouth and are under my gums. So not fun at all. I went yesterday to see the specialty dentist and talk about having them extracted. I will not be put under but will have laughing gas and local anesthetic. Some people think I'm crazy for not being put under but I'd rather not do it. I'll be driving myself there and back. I'm also bringing some headphones and will probably close my eyes. They said it will be about 5 minutes for the top tooth and 10-15 per bottom tooth so not too long. It's going to be next Tuesday at 1pm and so I'm taking Wednesday off …

Heroes - Ink (09/28)

This was a good episode, but it seems like not too much happened.

Matt - Still being haunted by Sylar. He tells his sponsor/partner that he has broken his 30 day sobriety and "used" and his drug is his power. They are staking out a place and his partner doesn't think he can handle it. But Matt convinces him he can. While they're searching the place for drugs Sylar is constantly bugging Matt. He leads him to the bathroom and finds a stuffed pink bunny. Sylar is trying to make him use his power to find out what's going on. He finally finds a ransom note put together by cut up magazines. Matt finally uses his power because he thinks a little girl's life is at stake and finds out she's under the stairs. He finds her and she's dead and Matt looses it and beats up the guy. His partner comes in and Matt tells him what's going on. Turns out there was no ransom note and no little girl under the stairs. Sylar's response "I used your own …

TV again

I got caught up on my shows this weekend. This includes: Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy, The Office and the new show Flashforward.

The Vampire Diaries
I read the book series and so far a few things have changed. But overall I am liking the show and will continue to watch it.

I LOVE this show and will of course watch it. I'm curious to see where they are going with this whole Apocalypse thing and Lucifer coming to earth. Next week's episode looks good with Dean going to the future 5 years and seeing himself and Sam. Looks like Sam indeed became Lucifer's vessel.

Grey's Anatomy:
George O'Malley is dead and it looks like the season premiere pretty much wrapped up everyone's grief so I don't think we'll be seeing too much of that. With Seattle Grace merging with Mercy looks like everyone will be fighting to keep their jobs and they'll probably introduce new characters.

The Office:
It's all leading up to Pam & Jim&#…

Heroes - Season Premiere

I have been reading the graphic novels online. There were not too many this summer, but the last two were about Tracy. Basically she talked to Micah and got information on all the people that worked in Building 26. She set out to kill everyone and Noah Bennet was the fifth one. So it was no surprise to me when his car started filling up with water. Then Danko came and saved him and wanted him to join him to kill Tracy. Noah refused and he ends up talking to Tracy and tell her that he wants to help her and that he will take care of Danko. He takes care of Danko by having the Haitian erase his memory of Tracy. So Tracy goes to Danko's apartment to kill him but he doesn't recognize her. She changes her mind about killing him and turns to leave but hears voices and follows the sound. A really fast guy with knives is killing Danko and looking for something. He tries to kill Tracy but she's made out of water and doesn't die and the guy leaves. She calls Noah and…

It's the 2-hour season premier of Heroes on NBC. Be sure to watch tonight. It's on at 7 central time.

A Little Late

I watched The Vampire Diaries on Thursday night. I have read the books by L.J. Smith and so I knew what the show would be about. I thought it was a good show and I'll watch it again this week. Well probably not until this weekend because Survivor starts on Thursday at the same time as Vampire Diaries is on. But they did change some things. Like giving the main character, Elena a teen brother instead of a 5 year old little sister. And they left out one of her friends. But overall I liked the show and though the two vampires were good in it.

Another show I watched last Thursday was Supernatural. I watched the first 3 seasons this summer, I had seen most of them but I was not an avid watcher until last season (season 4). So it was good to get caught up on the show. So I was very much looking forward to season 5. I thought the episode was good, but not great. I guess I was expecting more. Hopefully this season does not disappoint me.

Show looking forward to this week are:

This weekend

Bees...aren't they cute? Well they are until you get stung by them and find out you're allergic to the sting.

The weekend started out fine. We went to the Renaissance Festival on Saturday. We took both of the kids and met sister-in-law, brother-in-law and nephew there around 9am. I even got a Henna tattoo on my arm of a dragonfly. We were sitting down eating a turkey leg when I got stung around 10:45. My arm swelled up and I got ice on it, I thought I would be fine. Until around 11am Dan said I was starting to get hives on my neck and face. We made it to the first aid tent and they gave me two benadryl pills and kept me for 1/2 hour. Dan in the meantime when around with the kids looking at the animals. I met up with him and we just took our time heading out, got apple dumplings and some sugar coated almonds to eat. On the road home I told Dan that my throat was a little swollen and that I was getting dizzy so we should stop at urgent care. At Urgent Care they gave …

First Day of School

It was the first day of school today. We got lunch packed last night, which consisted of a ham and cheese sandwich, granola bar, blueberries and chocolate milk. We also picked out an outfit and packed the backpack. X was so excited last night he could hardly fall asleep. But this morning he woke up without any problems and was ready to go.

Getting breakfast for everyone. He was such a helper this morning, he filled all our bowls and got spoons and even milk.

The kids eating Golden Grahams:

Even the cat joined us for breakfast:

First day of school picture in front of our house:

Heading to the car. He said his backpack was heavy but it didn't hardly have anything in it.

In the car, he insisted on holding his backpack and lunchbox on his lap.

We parked on the street and he is walking to the building.

In the cafeteria waiting for his teacher to come and take him to his classroom.

The kindergartners lining up with the teacher:

I pick him up around noon so I'll post how his first day w…

I've read it

So far I've read all nine books from the SookieStackhouse Series (or Southern Vampire Series) by Charlaine Harris and I'm waiting for the next one to come out in October which is short stories and a tenth book in May of next year. Also I've read all six books from the Morganville Vampire Series by Rachel Caine and the next one is coming out in November. I'm currently reading The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares. So far I'm half-way through and it's a good book. I've never seen the movie.

Last week

I was on vacation last week. My mom came to visit from out of state. We went to the zoo on Monday, the lake on Tuesday and then also visited the History Museum. We also bought a playground set for the kids. I will post some pictures later. X starts school next Friday and new TV starts soon. I'm on my last episode of Dead Like Me. I love that show! On September 10th, Supernatural comes back and Vampire Diaries starts. Looking forward to it.

TV - What would I do without you?

During the summer there is really nothing to watch on TV. But this year I have been catching up on some shows either online or borrowing some shows from friends.

So far this summer I've watched three seasons of Supernatural. Which is a great show. The fifth season is starting on Thursday, September 10th on the CW. I had seen the show on and off the first few seasons. I really got into it last season and that's why I borrowed the first three seasons from my sister-in-law. In case you've never seen the show it is about two brothers, Dean and Sam Winchester that go around the country dealing with supernatural things like ghosts, vampires and demons.

Another great summer show is True Blood. I've read all the Southern Vampire Series books that the show is based on. The show started last summer on HBO and it is on it's second season this summer with a third season already re-newed for next summer. This show is about a waitress named SookieStackhouse that is a t…

End of Summer

It is already a week into August and it feels like it is the end of summer. I go to the stores and see back to school supplies and fall stuff too. I don't even want to start thinking about holidays yet. First Halloween, which I really have to think about because I'm making the kids' costumes. O is going to be a witch, I'm just going to make her a simple black dress to wear and big enough so she can wear some warm clothes underneath. X is going to be a pirate so I have to figure out what I'm going to do for him. The Renaissance Festival is coming up too. We are planning on going this year with both kids. We did that last year and they had a lot of fun. We bought X a shield last year with a dragon on it and the year before a sword. So we'll probably get him something this year too. Maybe we'll get O a sword too. Then after Halloween we'll have Thanksgiving. And Christmas, which I am really NOT ready for. I'm too busy right now thinking a…

My little boy is starting kindergarten this year. His first day is September 2nd and he's super excited. His last day at daycare is next Thursday. It is so hard to believe that he is old enough to be going to school. It seems like just yesterday he was born and a little baby I held in my arms. Now he is an opinionated 5 year old little boy. So this is my first year buying school supplies and thinking about packing lunches. I really don't know what to expect. I mean it's one thing on you're the one going to school but it's another when you're the parent of that child. I am also worried about how it will be for O going to daycare by herself. She loves her big brother and has never been apart from him since she was born. I'm sure she will miss him terribly. Although there are days when they do not get along and I'm sure wish they were not together. I am taking the day off of work when he starts school. I will probably take a million pictures …

Duluth, MN

We went up to Duluth, MN on July 8th. Our first stop was Park Point, which is basically a thin peninsula near Duluth. There is a beach and picnic area and of course Lake Superior. We had picnic lunch there and then walked to the beach.

X walking to the beach:

At the beach, it was really windy there:

Our next stop was Aerial Lift bridge where you can watch ships come and go. We were lucky enough to see a ship leaving right as we got there.

The ship's name is the Algosoo and it was carrying coal.

A Hard Day's Night

On Sunday we went to see a Beatles Tribute Band by the name of A Hard Day's Night. Dan works with one of the band members. The concert was outdoors and it was free. It was at 2:30PM and we took the kids with. The got a little bored but luckily there was a park nearby. The band was good. They started out in black suits playing the early years stuff, then came out with tan jackets and later years stuff and finally came out in Sgt. Pepper's outfits playing the even later years stuff. The concert was over around 5pm. It was a lot of fun and I would see them again. Afterwards we just went to McDonald's for dinner. And we got home around 7pm, just in time to see Merlin. That's a British show that is now playing on NBC. It's not a great show but I like it plus for some reason my kids get excited when I say we're watching Merlin. O kept saying "Merlin's on! Merlin's on!" It was cute.

I also finally finished watching all three seasons of …

Jay Cooke State Park

We went to Jay Cooke State Park while on vacation a couple of weeks ago. Here are some pictures from that trip.

We hiked a little ways to get to this bridge, it is a suspension bridge and it does move a little bit when you're on it. I tried to get across it as fast as I could since I did not really like it.

Hiking around, the kids enjoyed it but they were tired on the hike back to the car

It was a beautiful day, sunny and not too hot or cold.

What I did

X was sick last week, he still is. On Wednesday we took him to the Dr and he had an ear infection in one ear and so much earwax in the other the Dr couldn't see in it. So he's taking Amoxicillin and drops to clear out the earwax. He hates those drops! Also his asthma is flaring up so it's a combination of nebulizer and inhaler. But he was so much better this past weekend that he didn't need a nebulizer or inhaler as much. Although he still tires easily and gets short of breath when he's playing too much. We'll see how he does in t-ball tonight. We bought him a t-ball set on Wednesday but he's been too sick to really practice. The little he did practice he got tired easily. O is also sick, but it's just a cold and she seems to be recovering. Unfortunately it seems like every time a kid has a cold I always catch it and so I was sick all weekend too. I'm feeling much better today except that I'm loosing my voice a little bit.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

We went and saw the movie last Tuesday. It's a fairly long movie (about 2hours 40minutes) but I liked it. I'm a big fan of the first movie and I did watch the cartoon in the 80s.
