My trip up north

Dan and I went to Duluth for our 10 year anniversary. It was a night away from the kids, which we hadn't done before and it was nice. Although I did miss them. It was actually warm and we were able to do some hiking at Jay Cooke and around Canal Park.

This is on the bridge at Jay Cooke:

My lunch bag

I got a crochet book from the library and it had a pattern for a drawstring bag. I had some cute yard laying around and decided to make it and use it as a lunch box.

Breakfast made fun

I had both kids home when X had no school. So I decided to make something fun for breakfast. I made eggs with ham and cheese, tortillas on the side and some cut up strawberries.

To make it even more fun I cut up the tortillas using a cookie cutter and toasted them in the toaster oven.
I even toasted the ones that were not cut from the cookie cutters and I ate them. I also used their favorite cups (Christmas ones) for milk and divided plates

He insisted on me taking a picture with his dinosaur tortilla:

After we did this I told him he could have "Cookie cutter Wednesday" which is basically me cutting a shape into bread and making him a pb&j sandwich packed in his school lunch. So he is always looking forward to Wednesdays now.

Great Site

I stumbled upon this site a couple of weeks ago when I was looking on how to grow your own avocado. Not only did I find out how but I found this great site. It's and it is full of educational information for parents for school aged children. It has everything from science experiments you can do at home to advice and worksheets for you children. You can sign up on their site for free and you can add experiments and things to your profile to look at later (like bookmarking). I haven't explored the site too much but have found some fun things I can do with the kids while they're home. I also found how to grow my own avocado out of an avocado seed from a regular one you get at the store. I just started it and hopefully in a few weeks I'll be able to put it in dirt. Check it out!

Birthday goodies

I just had my 30th birthday on Sunday (Feb. 28). I was born 2hrs 40 minutes before the 29th so I was almost a leap day baby. I got some freebies such as a free drink at Caribou. Any size drink and I got a large blended Chai Tea Latte. Super yummy and the kids liked it too so I shared. I also am on the mailing list for Helzberg and they send me a card for free pearl earrings. I actually had already gotten a free pair 6 months ago and so now I have two pairs. Then I signed up for Culver's for me and O and we both got free sundae coupons. We're planning to eat there tonight and getting a treat. Also I signed up for Cold Stone and have a free coupon for myself and O. Her birthday is next week and coupons overlap enough that we can just take one trip and get two free items. I also signed her up at Toys R Us and they send you a $3 gift card on your birthday. We went there last week and she found a little doll. I'm sure there's other freebies out there for your b…

Back to normal

The Olympics are over and most TV shows are back to new programing. Chuck was new last night, but Heroes has ended until next season. I also like watching Legend of the Seeker and Saturday's episode was great. The show is based on the Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind. Also starting back up this month is Flashforward and V. Both new shows that began in the fall and took a very long break. Flashforward is on ABC and will return on Thursday, March 18th. Also V will return on ABC on Tuesday, March 30th.

I'm working on a couple of projects (sewing and crocheting), which I will take pictures of and post as soon as I'm done.
