Book in a Series - The Morganville Vampires

Don't you hate it when you are reading a book and it's part of a book series and you have to wait FOREVER for the next book to come out.  Then you get the next book and you can't remember where it left off?  Well I'm going to summarize a book in a series that I've read so that when I get the next book I can look at my summary and know what happened.  Warning, the following contains spoilers!

The Morganville Vampires
Bite Club - Rachel Caine
Bite Club (The Morganville Vampires, #10)
Last Breath - 11/01/11

I absolutely love this series.  Every time a new one comes out I wonder what Rachel Caine will do and every time my eyes are glued to the pages.  I love all of the characters in these books, both human and Vampires.

The Glass House gets a flyer for a new gym in town.  The gym teaches humans how to defend against vampires.  Of course Shane is very interested and he gets wrapped up in it and there begins a fight club.  The people leading the club are vampires and they give Shane a special drink (energy drink mixed with vampire blood) to help him stay strong.  The Vampire Glory (we were introduced to her last book) is using her glamour on Shane.  Shane gets wrapped up in fight club and pretty much ditches Michael, Eve and Claire.  Poor Claire, I felt so bad for how Shane treated her.  He especially hates the relationship between Claire and Myrnin and believes there is more of a romantic relationship.

All the fighting is being run by Bishop, who escaped.  Also helping out is Amy (the one that had video taped Shane and stalked him).  Even though she was locked up.  Frank is trying to help Shane but doesn't want him to know about him.

In the end Myrnin helps save Shane along with Michael, Eve and Claire and also Frank.  Shane finds out about Frank at the end and sees the error in his ways.  Myrnin finally kills Bishop so he is no longer a threat.

Also in the book, Claire gets accepted into MIT and finally turns it down.  Eve and Michael get engaged.

Book in a Series - The House of Night

Don't you hate it when you are reading a book and it's part of a book series and you have to wait FOREVER for the next book to come out.  Then you get the next book and you can't remember where it left off?  Well I'm going to summarize a book in a series that I've read so that when I get the next book I can look at my summary and know what happened.  Warning, the following contains spoilers!

House of Night
Awakened - P.C. Cast
Awakened (House of Night, #8)
Destined - 10/25/11

Zoey and Stark solidify their relationship and decide to stay at Skye.  Neferet kills Jack (Oh no!) as a debt to Darkness.  Also Kalone finds out he can enter Stark's mind because of the life he breathed into him in the last book.  Erik and Zoey become friend and he gets new marks as a Tracker.  Neferet is at the House of Night and at Jack's funeral in front of everyone she asks Zoey for forgiveness.  Zoey accepts but knows it's not a true apology.  Rephaim comes to the school and Neferet orders the Sons of Erebus to kill Rephaim and Stevie Rae.  Kalone tries to stop them along side Ephraim.  Ephraim only defends himself and doesn't hurt the Sons.  Nyx appears and lets Ephraim choose between Stevie Rae and Kalone and he chooses Stevie Rae.  She lets him be human at night and a raven during the day.  Zoey and all her friends leave since Neferet and Dragon don't accept Ephraim.  They decide to start a new House of Night in the tunnels.

At the end Neferet makes a deal with the white bull.  She goes to kill Zoey's grandmother but instead kills her mother.  Zoey's mother left her husband and wants her daughter back in her life again.  Neferet creates a vessel that will obey her as her weapon.  Nyx gives Heath the choice to be the lost soul in the vessel, come back but not remember Zoey at all or remain in the Otherworld.  He chooses the vessel.  Zoey has a dream about her mother's death.

I really liked this series but the last couple of books have dragged on too long.  I am really only reading them now so I can see the series through.

New Dog

We got a new dog on April 22nd.  I have been meaning to post about it but never got around to it.  He is a Labradoodle (Yellow Labrador Retriever mother and poodle father).  We have named him Apollo after the Greek God.  Keeping with the theme since our cat is name Ares after the Greek God of War.  He is a wonderful dog.  He was easy to potty train and he is great with the kids.  Aries is getting used to him (not as much hissing as there used to be) and he doesn't bug her too much.  He just turned 6 months yesterday. Here are some pictures.

The week that we got him:

Score!

I was looking for a gift for Dan for Father's Day and so I was looking at Amazon.  Of course I wanted free shipping and I looked to see how much Supernatural was.  I found Seasons 1-5 for $18.99 each.  I hadn't bought them because I can never find them for less than $20 and that's all I'm willing to spend on a TV show.  I LOVE Supernatural and now I'm so excited that I'll be getting the first 5 seasons.  Hopefully I can score season 6 for not too much when that comes out.

I've been watching Game of Thrones and I'm really liking it.  I even have Dan watching it with me.  True Blood is going to start up soon too.  Not too many other summer shows that I watch.  I think I'm just going to spend the summer watching some of the TV shows that I own on DVD.

X is turning 7 tomorrow and he is so excited!  Tonight I'm making cupcakes for him to bring to school and we're taking him out to dinner.  Saturday he's having his kid party at the park and I'm doing brownies.  Sunday is his family party and I'm just getting a Costco cake.  So we are going to be busy this weekend.

Book in a Series - Frankenstein Series

Don't you hate it when you are reading a book and it's part of a book series and you have to wait FOREVER for the next book to come out.  Then you get the next book and you can't remember where it left off?  Well I'm going to summarize a book in a series that I've read so that when I get the next book I can look at my summary and know what happened.  Warning, the following contains spoilers!

Frankenstein Series
Lost Souls - Dean Koontz
Frankenstein: Lost Souls

The Dead Town - 05/24/11

Carson & Michael are married and have a daughter and own their own P.I. business.  Erica 5 and Jocko live in a small town.  She sees Victor when she goes into town.  This is the new Victor that is a clone of the previous one with the same memories.  He is creating a new race and taking over the town.  Carson, Michael & Deucalion go to see Erica 5 and Jocko and together they are going to team up and stop the new Victor from succeeding.

Not much happened in this one and I think it's just a set up for the next book.  I really hope he finishes off the series because really I am only reading it to finish it up.

Book Review: Overbite - Meg Cabot

Overbite - Meg Cabot Meena Harper has a special gift, but i's only now that anyone's ever appreciated it.  The Palatine Guard--...
