Happy Holidays

I meant to post before Christmas and then I meant to post after Christmas. I was lazy/busy to do it until now. I hope everyone had a great Christmas. We had a busy Christmas! I worked Christmas Eve and then we went to Dan's grandparents house that night. The kids got presents, which they wanted opened right away. Then Christmas morning we opened our presents. I got Kirby for my DS!! I also got Twilight, New Moon and Tales of Beddle the Bard. I got Dan Star Wars the Force Unleashed game for Wii. He really likes it. In that game you are an apprentice to Darth Vader and man is that evil! X got 3 hot wheels tracks, a lightning McQueen scooter, a lightning McQueen bouncy ball and a couple of leapster games. O got about 6 My Little Ponies. That's from 3 different people! Oddly enough she didn't get any duplicates. We got her a Clipo table and a doll. She also got another doll with a stroller, pack n play and high chair. Needless to say our children do not need more toys. The weekend was good too, Sunday was Dan's birthday. I got him Guitar Hero Aerosmith for Wii, a cordless drill and Tropic Thunder. Tonight we're having a family New Year's Party. I'm working today but luckily I get Thursday and Friday off. I hope everyone has a great New Years!

Kids and their blankets

Here are the kids both sitting under blankets watching TV. O has to do everything X does. X had just woken up from his nap and was still tired so he was on the recliner with his Elmo blanket. Then O wakes up and asks for her "lilow" & "bleeblee" (pillow & blanket) so that she too can be like X. I just thought it was so cute how they were sitting.

Math Problem

I do love math and thought this was so cool. Grab a calculator and work it out for yourself.

1. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the Area code…)

2. Multiply by 80

3. Add 1

4. Multiply by 250

5. Add to this the last 4 digits of your phone number

6. Add to this the last 4 digits of your phone number again.

7. Subtract 250

8. Divide number by 2

Do you recognized the number?

Heroes - Dual

Last night was the fall finale and the finale for the Villains Chapter. On February 2nd we start the new chapter "Fugitives". I thought last night's episode was good and wrapped up a few loose ends. We basically have 3 stories last night, Primatech, Pinehearst and getting Hiro back.

Primatech - Sylar has trapped Angela, Claire, Meredith & Noah and he's going to show them that they are all monsters like him. He's killed everyone else in that facility except the L5, which I think was just the puppeteer guy. He ends up trying to get Claire to shoot Angela by telling her that he'll let her, Mer & Noah go if she does that. She refuses to shoot her. They decided to go looking for him. Meredith gets a shot of adrenaline and it's making her fire power go out of control. Sylar kills the puppeteer without much effort. He locks Meredith and Noah in a cell and gives him a gun with 1 bullet. He expects him to shoot her to save himself. Meanwhile Claire is looking for them. Sylar comes up behind her and tells her that he has to choose, save her dad or her grandma. She of course chooses to save Noah. She sees them locked and can't get them out. Noah tells Meredith to heat up the glass (why didn't they do this before?) and then he shoots it. It doesn't shatter like he wanted but put a bullet hole in. Claire jumps in and saves them. She gets them out but Meredith doesn't want to come because she still can't control herself. I'm wondering why the adrenaline isn't wearing off, but whatever. So they go to save Angela. She tells Sylar that she knows who his parents are and if he kills her then he'll never find out. Claire comes in and gets him in the back of the neck and he's dead. Or so we're to assume. She goes back for Meredith but she tells them to go. Then her fire totally goes out of control and the whole place burns down. Angela, Claire & Noah get out but Sylar & Meredith don't. So we assume that they are both dead.

Pinehearst - Peter is still looking over Arthur's dead body when Nathan comes in. They argue about right and wrong. Nathan tells Peter that he must choose a side. Peter aims a gun at him but decides not to shoot him and just punches him and knocks him out. He then sets out to destroy the formula. Suresh puts up a fight because he wants to cure himself. Then Knox & Flint come in and also want to destroy the formula because they want to be special. Peter knocks over a big barrel of the formula and Mohinder is laying on the floor and gets cured. Apparently the formula can be absorbed. Niki freezes Knox to save Nathan, who wakes up. He goes and tries to stop Peter. Flint lights up the formula that is spilled around Nathan, which is flammable. To save Nathan, Peter injects himself. He doesn't suffer as much as the other people do. I'm assuming he gets the same power back and absorbs Nathan's flying ability. He flies Nathan out and rescues him. Nathan yells at him and they argue. Nathan flies away and now Peter has his ability back.

Ando, Daphne & Matt - They go to Mohinder's loft and find it empty. Daphne then goes and steals the formula just as Mohinder is about to inject himself. Ando then injects himself. They figure out he has a red zapping power (which we knew he would get from the episode in the future where he kills Hiro). They figure out that when he zaps someone it magnifies their power. Matt can listen to everyone's thoughts at once, Daphne can travel faster than the speed of light therefore traveling in time. She goes back in time and gets Hiro. He has stolen the formula and his dad has been chasing him with a sword. He rips the formula in half (that's how it was ripped in half) but as he's about to totally destroy it, Daphne comes and gets him. In the present he says they need to destroy the formula. So they head to Pinehearst and Tracy has just taken the formula. She calls Hiro Pikachu and he punches her and steals the formula. He rips it up into little pieces. So now the formula is gone forever!

Fugitives - A few weeks later Nathan is in a car with another man. He gives him files of people with abilities and tells him to round them up and put them somewhere safe. It looks like next season the Heroes are running just like the future that Peter was in where everyone had abilities and he was chased down by Claire. Also it looks like they get loaded in a plane but they were all wearing masks so I couldn't see who it was.

Tea Time

On friday night I decided to have some tea after O went to bed. I haven't had tea in a while. So I got it all ready and I'm sitting on the couch sipping my tea and X wants to cuddle with me. Then he wants to try my tea. So I let him thinking he'll hate it but nope he loved it. His words "Tea is my favorite". He kept taking sips from me and got sad that I drank the last of it. So I promised him that next time I have tea he will get his own cup. Last night I made more tea and true to my word he got his own cup. It's so cute to see him drinking his little cup of tea.

Heroes - Our Father

Next week is the fall finale and then we'll start the new chapter "Fugitives" on February 2nd, 2009. I thought last night's episode was really good and it seems like a lot of things were set up for next week's episode.
Hiro - He's 16 years in the past. He follows his parents and sees that his mom is sick. He finds out about the catalyst and how his mother gave the catalyst to baby Claire. He brings her waffles and tells her that he's Hiro from the future. She heals him and he gets all his memories back. She then gives him the catalyst and dies. He goes out to find Claire on the rooftop and tells her he has the catalyst and they can go back when Arthur is there. He takes Hiro's power and the catalyst and throws him off the roof. But he's not dead just hanging on to a pole. I bet his dad will help him somehow.
Claire - She's 16 year in the past too. She follows her dad. She sees Sandra with baby Claire and offers to help her. She then takes care of baby Claire and offers Sandra tips. Then Noah comes in and is suspicious of Claire. She then tells him she's there to help and protect their family and how he can't let the company take baby Claire because of the catalyst. She also convinces him that he'll be a good father and she'll be his Claire Bear. Then she meets Hiro and then Arthur on the rooftop. Arthur sends her back to the present and tells her to send the message about him taking the catalyst. I assume that she's going to tell Angela about it.
Ando, Matt & Daphne - They track down the bike messenger. They finally take the sketch book and see Hiro is stuck in the past with no powers. Their brilliant plan is to find Mohinder and have Ando get the power to travel through time and get Hiro back. I don't think that's going to work out because we saw Ando had a different power in the alternate future.
Nathan - He decides to join Arthur and Pinehearst and take over the company. They perfect the formula because Arthur has the catalyst. They give it to soldier and he gets super-strength. I bet that guy will turn on them. Mohinder is still a monster, and I don't get how the formula will help him get rid of that.
Sylar - He really does kill Elle and then sets her on fire. He decides to go after someone and we find out she has the power to know who's telling the truth. He kills her and takes her power, along with other co-workers. So now he's able to know who's lying and who's not.
Peter & The Haitian - Seriously does that guy not have a name? Anyhow they are told by Angela that they need to kill Arthur. Peter is hesitant because it's his father. She tells him that he wouldn't hesitate to kill any of his family members. So Peter and Haitian go to Pinehearst to kill Arthur. They confront him and Peter hesitates. He finally shoots but Arthur throws the gun from his hand and the bullet stops a couple of inches from his head. It was stopped by Sylar. He asks Arthur if he's really his father and Arthur replies yes. But Sylar knows he's lying. He turns to Peter and tells him he's not a killer but Sylar is. Then turns to Arthur and lets the bullet kill him.
So Arthur is lying dead and we see the catalyst leave him. So is the catalyst gone forever or does Peter now have it? So looks like next week will be good. It's going to come down to Nathan vs Peter. When is Peter going to get his powers back?

This Morning

Pretty uneventful start. I got the kids up and ready and we left the house and dropped them off. Then on my way to work hopping on the freeway I saw a hawk swoop down and grab a little critter (I assume it was a mouse) and fly away with it in it's claw. That was so cool, I wish I had my camera to capture it. But then onto the freeway to enjoy the rest of my uneventful trip to work. Speaking of work, I better do some.

Heroes - The Eclipse Part II

The world's longest eclipse. I think the longest eclipse only last about 8 minutes and this one seemed to last for hours. Anyways here's what happened last night.
Sylar & Elle - While Noah has a gun aimed at them he gives them time to get naked and have sex. Kind of strange, but whatever! So as they're laying there naked, Elle sees that Sylar is going to get shot and they run off in their underwear. Somehow Sylar was able to get some pants on fairly quickly. Noah comes in and is ready to kick some butt. He shoots Elle in the leg. They run off and he chases them. He gets a call that Claire is dying and he must decide to go to his dying daughter or try to kill Sylar and Elle. He decides to hunt down Elle & Sylar. He ends up getting Sylar at some kind of warehouse. Noah and Sylar fight and Noah kicks his butt. He pulls out a knife and slashes his throat and leaves.
Hiro & Ando - Still at the comic book store and Hiro trying to get his memory back. We find out there is no more 9th wonder comics since Issac died but there's supposedly a bike messenger with the sketches. Which we saw in Season 1 right before Issac was killed by Sylar and he puts in the bike messengers bag. So Hiro is reading back issues and then they find out that he has to go back to when Hiro's dad gave Noah baby Claire.
Claire - She dies (surprise, surprise) and then after the eclipse is over she comes back to life. Her and Sandra go home. She's mad at Noah and he realizes that Sylar is alive and will come after them. Then we see Elle and Sylar are there and just as he's about to kill Noah, Hiro comes and take him away, then Elle and finally Claire. We cut to the rooftop and we see Hiro's Dad, Noah, boy Hiro and baby Claire.
Matt & Daphne - She has Cerebral Palsy and she was cured after the last eclipse. But now that this eclipse is happening she's in leg braces again. Matt goes to find Hiro and then realizes that they'll get their powers back after the eclipse is over and heads back to Daphne's house. He finds her fixing a scarecrow she made as kid. He convinces her to go talk to her dad. Blah, kind of a boring plot between them.
Nathan, Peter & The Haitian - Have we ever learned his name? Anyways they're trying to get his brother. They make him bleed and show everyone he's not God. Peter stays back to fight them and then Nathan & The Haitian come and rescue them. Nathan tries to attack the brother but Haitian says it's his fight and he touches his head. I don't know if he kills him or just wipes his memory. Nathan decides to go to Pinehearst and join his dad (idiot!) and Peter tries to convince him otherwise. He flies off leaving Peter with The Haitian.
Mohinder - Arthur insists he find out why they're powerless but he just wants to find Maya. He knocks Flint out and goes to her house. He knocks on the door and the eclipse ends and he's Monster Mohinder again. He leaves and goes back to work with Arthur.
Elle & Sylar are in a beach somewhere. Sylar tells her that they can never change, that they're damaged goods. He starts cutting her head open but we don't see if he finishes it. So is she dead or not?
I thought it was a good episode. I think Hiro's dad will somehow help Hiro get his memory back. Claire will realized just how much Noah loves her. Peter and the Haitian will try to kill Arthur. Maybe Peter will get his powers back (I hope so). I think only two more episodes left of the Villains Chapter. Then the fugitives chapter will start next year (I think February).

Heroes - The Eclipse Part 1

Overall a much better episode than last week. Although we are left with many more questions and many were not answered.
Hiro is still stuck as his 10 year old self. They are reading 9th wonders comics and they end up at Matt's house for help. Daphne is scared that Arthur will take away her abilities and she ends up leaving to go back home to Kansas. Hiro, Ando and Matt follow them there and Daphne won't let them in her house. Hiro & Ando go to a comic book store to get more comics to help Hiro get his memory back. Matt goes inside the house and Daphne has leg braces and can hardly walk.
Oh yeah, the world's longest eclipse is ocurring and it is affecting their powers.
Arthur is drawing the future, it shows Nathan & Peter falling, Claire hurt and Noah carrying her, Sylar kissing Elle and Hiro, Ando & Matt in a corn field. He tells Sylar to go find Claire and bring her back and Elle volunteers to go with him. She keeps trying to cause trouble. Meanwhile Noah hides Claire in one of the L5's house (the vortex guy), since she's his daughter and the catalyst. Of course Sylar finds her there but when Elle and Sylar try to use their powers they find that they're gone. So Noah dislocates Sylar's arm and Elle is about to shoot Noah when Claire steps in and gets shot herself. Noah hits Elle and knocks her down. Claire also lost her power and can't heal. He brings her home and refuses to take her to the hospital. He leaves even though he said he wouldn't and Claire gets worse and looks like Sandra takes her to the hospital. Sylar and Elle recover and kiss and Noah has a sniper aimed at them.
Peter and Nathan decide to go to Haiti to get The Haitan. Nathan looses his power and they fall in so water but they're okay. They argue, Nathan is a puppet and Peter always needs saving. They run into The Haitan and find out the L5 person he's after is his brother. Of course Nathan gets captured and he's told that Arthur knew he was coming. This is because Tracy told him that was Nathan's plan. Angela seems like she doesn't fully trust Tracy.
All they showed for next week was how Claire is in the hospital fighting for her life. So stay tuned for The Eclipse Part II.

Twilight

I saw it Friday night. The theater was pretty full and I got there about 30 minutes early. I saw a Harry Potter preview and can't wait until that comes out in July. Also they announced on Saturday that they will be making New Moon (the sequel to Twilight).
I liked the movie, and do plan to buy it when it comes out on DVD. I went in knowing that changes would be made, which they were. I liked Edward, except for the chest hair and he maybe should have worked out a little more. I really liked Jasper and could feel the pain he was in being in the presence of all the humans. I also liked Edward and how you could really tell that he was overwhelmed by Bella's scent when he first meets her and also how he was troubled that he couldn't read her mind. I thought overall they did a good job at each character and I'm looking forward to the other movies that will be coming out.

Heroes - 11/17

Sorry for the lateness of this post. I meant to write about it immediately on Tuesday. Well Monday night after having a horrible non-stop pain on my upper left tooth (I suspected wisdom tooth) I went to the Dentist. Sure enough it was my wisdom tooth. They again lectured me about how I need to get them all pulled and then she informs me they can pull the one that's giving me trouble that night. So I got my wisdom tooth pulled and I have to schedule a visit to a specialty dental clinic to get the rest pulled. I have to be put under for the rest. I'm so looking forward to it (insert sarcasm). Anyhow because of that I wasn't really feeling up to posting so anyhow back to Heroes.
Peter is without powers and so Claire feels like she has to protect him. Knox and Flint come after them and Peter runs while Claire stays to deal with them. She's not scared so Knox doesn't get strong and Flint can't really hurt her. She jumps out the window and her and Peter escape. Then they meet them again underground and they inform Claire that they're not after Peter but her. Peter comes and saves her.
Angela is still stuck in her head. Matt & Daphne go to Primatech to see if they can help. They find Angela laying in bed and no one around. So he goes into her head. She's being held captive by Arthur. Somehow Daphne gets in too and she confesses her love for him and they get Angela out too.
Mohinder is still trying to perfect "the formula" and figures out that it needs a catalyst to work and that catalyst is a person. Then Arthur says something about "him" hiding that person from him and they show him looking at Kaito's file and then Claire's file.
Claire figures out that she's the catalyst and Team Angela is formed. That team consists of Angela, Matt, Daphne, Peter & Claire. Also Team Arthur is formed, consisting of Arthur, Sylar, Elle, Knox, Flint & Tracy.
Oh Nathan goes to visit his dad and Arthur tries to get him on his side but Nathan wont. Tracy then goes to Arthur and tells him she will work on Nathan to get him on Arthur's side.
Hiro gets turned into his 10 year old self thanks to Arthur. Ando has to teach him about his power and they spend a lot of time being goofy.
Elle is locked up and Sylar goes to her. She zaps him a bunch of times and takes her anger out on him. Then asks him to kill her but he won't. Instead he tells her he forgives her for turning him into a monster and that she needs to forgive herself. She then does and her pain stops and he gets her power. So now they both have the same power and she tries to show him how to use it.
Oh and an eclipse is coming, which will leave all our heroes powerless.
I thought it was an okay episode. The Hiro story was too much of season 1 when Hiro was goofy and trying to figure out his power. Hopefully next week is better.

Heroes - 11/10

Not the best episode this season but it did answer some questions. I mean they did show a lot of stuff that we had already seen Season 1.
So Meredith's brother is Flint, who is a Level 5 escapee now and working for Pinehearst. He's not a very smart person as Meredith clearly explains. She hates the company because it's their fault that she set the fire and though Claire was dead. Also she was once an agent working for The Company but then was let go. Notice how Claire saved the fireman from the fire that Meredith set while she was still there.
Arthur Petrelli was trying to kill Nathan to go through with "the plan" with Linderman. So the truck that ran down Nathan & Heidi was not sent by Linderman. The rest we already know. Angela finds out that Arthur is trying to kill her "baby" aka Nathan and decides she will kill him instead. So she gets the Haitan to come and poisons Arthurs soup. He then has a heart attack and as they're trying to ship him off to The Company or dispose of his body (it wasn't too clear) Nathan walks in and spoils their plans. Well it turns out Arthur doesn't die, he's just paralized but can communicate through mind and has the Dr tell them that Arthur died and Angela wants him cremated. The rest we know.
Also Grabiel/Sylar is trying to kill himself because he is full of guilt from that murder he commited. In come Elle and saves him and cozies up to him. Her and Noah are working to try to get Sylar to kill so they can study how he takes their powers. Elle doesn't want to because she likes him and doesn't want to turn him into a monster. In the end she gets him to kill and he lets her go.
We see glimses of Mohinder, driving a cab, Peter gets out and Noah gets in. Peter has his hair that just annoys me. Then at the end Hiro wakes up and Usutu gets his head chopped off by Arthur and he takes Hiro's head and to be continued...
Hopefully next week is better than this week.

Look what I made

I'm not very good at sewing, but I am trying. I've made pants for the kids and Olivia a couple of pillowcase dresses. I decided to make them some pjs. I bought Xavier some race car flannel fabric, they have remnants on clearence at Wal-mart. Olivia's material is flannel with little hearts that I got from Dan's grandma. So here are some pictures of their pjs.

The 44th President

Well it's finally over, no more political ads on TV. Our new president is Barack Obama, the first African-American president. Here is a quote from his speech last night:

“If there is anyone out there who doubts that America is a place where anything is possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer,” Obama declared. “Young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled, Americans have sent a message to the world that we have never been just a collection of red states and blue states,” he said. “We have been and always will be the United States of America. “It’s been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America,” he said to a long roar

Halloween

The kids had a great time trick or treating. Xavier wanted to keep going all night, but his little pumpkin basket was full. Here are some pictures of them.

Xavier and Olivia on our front step. The biggest pumpkin is Dan's, the one below it is mine (a cat) and the bottom one is Xavier's.

Xavier and Olivia getting ready to go trick or treating.

Xavier dressed up as a jedi knight.

Olivia dressed up as a Fairy Ballerina. Want some candy?

Heroes - Eris Quod Sum

Last night's episode was good. No Heroes for two weeks! How sad!
Monhinder left his apartment with Maya and brought her to Pinehearst to be "cured". That involved Arthur Petrelli taking her power away. Apparently she is leaving the U.S. and making amends for all the people she's killed. So good bye Maya! I'm glad she's gone because I really didn't like her.
Peter was stuck, without powers, at Pinehearst. His dad was trying to get him to work with him but Peter said Arthur is evil. Arthur Petrelli is evil and creepy. Then Arthur decides to let Mohinder use Peter as a guinea pig for testing the formula. Just as he's about to inject him, Sylar shows up to rescue him. There's a fight and Arthur comes in and talks to Sylar. He tells him the "truth", which we don't really get to hear. All we find out is that Angela tried to kill Sylar because she had a dream about what a monster he would be and that's why they gave him up for adoption. So now Sylar has joined Arthur. Peter still refuses and Sylar throws him out the window.
When he lands and isn't dead, because Sylar made sure he didn't die, there is Claire and Elle. They were both going to Pinehearst to find out what was wrong with them. Elle's ability is out of control and Claire can't feel pain. Claire helps Peter and Elle decides to go into the company even though Peter tells her not to.
They call Nathan over and he talks with Peter. He tells Nathan that their father is alive and he's evil. Nathan promises to not go to the company, but it's a lie. Him and Tracy are going to work to take down the company.
Daphne is supposed to kill Matt, but his dad doesn't want him dead. Arthur ends up killing Maury and Daphne goes to Matt's place to kill him. She points a gun to him but he convinces her not to kill him. Knox comes and tries to kill Matt and does, except in only happened in his mind. Turns out Daphne is still working for Arthur because we see her talking to him on the phone.
Hiro and Ando are in Africa still. They eat that stuff that makes you see the future. Hiro's eyes go white and the show ends.
Next episode we're revisiting the past for all of them. I missed not seeing Noah this episode, although I guess he was in one scene. Also what happened to West? Did he just fly away to never return? I'm not sure if I like Peter without abilities. I do think he'll get them back somehow though. Oh and what about Caitlan? She's stuck in the future and Peter just totally forgot about her. And Molly, where is she? I know they said she was somewhere safe, but where is that?

The Host

I read this book a while back but wanted to write about it. It was a really good book. I actually ended up liking this book better than the Twilight books. The book is The Host by Stephenie Meyer and it's an adult book. It's about an alien race, called souls that take over people's bodies. It's like Invasion of the Body Snatchers. This is from the alien's point of view though. If you haven't read the book don't read what I'm about to write.

Melanie is captured by souls who then inplant one into her. The souls take over the bodies and the previous inhabitant pretty much ceases to exist. In Melanie's case she didn't want to stop existing and the soul they implant, Wanderer has to share the body. Melanie tries to fight Wanderer by showing her how much she loves Jared and her little brother Jamie. This then leads to Wanderer to also love Jared and Jamie. They set out together to find them and they do in Arizona. They are held prisoner there and eventually help the humans. Wanderer helps them and shows them how to take the souls out without killing the host or the souls. Wanderer ends up falling in love with Ian, a human. She accepts that she has to be taken out of Melanie and put into hibernation. They take the souls out and put them in a hibernation chamber and are sent back to a station where they are sent to another planet. Except that she doesn't want to go into hibernation she just wants them to let her die. So she is taken out of Melanie's body and the humans decide to implant her into a 17 year old. She then gets to be with Ian who she loves. Melanie gets her body back and is able to be with Jared. At the end of the book they run into another clan that also has a soul helping them.

Stephenie Meyer says she's planning to write two more sequels to this book. I really hope she does.

Harry Potter

So I read Deathly Hallows when it first came out. I wanted to re-read it again but though if I'm going to re-read the 7th book I might as well start with book 1. So I started reading all the books. I'm on the fifth one, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I'm actually almost done with it and then I'll move on to Half-Blood Prince. They're actually better reading them in a row like that. Although I did take a break between some books to read The Host, which I'm going to write about soon. That was a good book. But for now I'm re-reading Harry Potter. There's a new book coming out in December, The Tales of Beedle the Bard, which is based on stories that helped them in Deathly Hallows. I will probably buy it since it sounds interesting. I haven't pre-ordered it yet or anything.
Next week is Halloween, I can't believe it. It sure snuck up on me. I still have to make a belt to go with Xavier's costume. I think I might do it tomorrow morning. We're going to a Halloween Carnival at the community center on Saturday and he needs his costume. I'm still giving him the choice of a Jedi or warrior. It is the same costume and same belt. The only difference is wearing a light saber or wearing a sword & shield. I was also going to make a sheath for his sword and attach it to his belt. I'll post pictures of the kids after Halloween.

Google Docs, who knew?

Apparently Dan did. He actually told me about it a while ago and I didn't listen. Well yesterday I decided to check it out. Since I didn't know how to get there I just went to google.com and on the top there's a tab that says "more" under it it says "documents" So I went there and tried it out. I put my list on there. Yeah I have an ongoing Christmas/Birthday wish list all year that I have saved in Microsoft Word. It's a way for me to know what I want. Like if I see something in a magazine and think "Hmm, that looks pretty cool" I can simply add it to my list. I also have a list for Xavier & Olivia and Dan has his own too. It's easy come Christmas/Birthday time when people want to know what to get you. Anyhow now my list in on google docs and I've shared it with Dan so he can view an updated one. I'l be putting the rest of the lists up soon. As well as my book list. I keep a list of books I want to read as well as books I have read. The cool thing about google docs is that it's saved on the internet and you can pull up your file anywhere. So I can save it and change it at work and open it, save it and change it at home, at the library or someone else's house. So go to http://docs.google.com/ or just do what I did and go to google.com. Check it out! There's also a calendar feature.

The Apple Orchard again

We went to MN Harvest yesterday. It was a perfect day to go because it wasn't too hot or too cold. The kids had a great time there. We walked around and petted some horses and ponies. We took a tractor ride, bought some apples and a couple of pumpkins. I took some great pictures too.

Brisingr

I actually finished the book last week but have not had a chance to write about it. I was in the process of re-reading all the Harry Potter books. I took a break from those when this book came out. I wasn't actually planning to buy the book. We went to Target the day it came out and I had seen it in the add for $15. I decided if they had it I would buy it. Well I had to ask the Electronics department person and they had 2 left behind the counter. So I bought it. It did take me a while to read, I think it's about 730 pages long. It was a good book, but Eldest if probably my favorite of the three. That being said though I am looking forward to the fourth and final book. So here is what I thought of the book. Oh and just in case you haven't read it, I am warning that there are spoilers ahead.
The book starts out with Eragon and Roran trying to save Katrina. I thought this was over a little too soon and that they defeated the Ra'zac a little too easily. I did like the chapters that were in Roran's prespective. There are definately some parts this book could have done without, such as the whole choosing a Dawrf King and all the detail that he went into describing how Eragon's sword was made. I like Murtagh and Thorn though and I actually feel bad for them. I kind of had an idea that Brom was Eragon's dad and so it wasn't too surprising when that was revealed. I did find surprising that Eragon's mom Selena was so cruel. At least now we know why Brom was in Carvahall and why he kept such a close eye on Eragon. Also surprising was the source of Galbatorix's power. Although the word Eldunari sounds like it belongs in Lord of the Rings. But the Heart of Hearts makes perfect sense. I also like that Glaedr gave Saphira and Eragon his Eldunari. It was so sad when Oromis and Glaedr died. I found it kind of stupid that Eragon and Arya had to kill a Shade. It seemed like it happened too easily. But I do think that Arya has feelings for Eragon. I think in the next book they will get the next egg and it will hatch for Arya. The dragon will be a male and Saphira will then be it's mate. This will forever bind Arya and Eragon who will also get together. Oh and what was taken from Eragon when he got the brightsteel from the Menoa Tree. She told him that he had to agree to let her have what she wanted but she never told him what it was. I'm sure she took something from him and I hope we find out in the next book. I did like this book and I hope Christopher Paolini writes the fourth one quickly.

Olivia

We think Olivia has Roseola. She started off with a fever (~103F) on Wednesday night. I stayed home with the kids on Thursday and Friday. I took her to the doctor on Saturday. What did the doctor say? It's probably just a virus. Give her plenty of fluids and let her rest. So the doctor visit was a waste. She did have slightly swollen glands. Her fever went away Saturday night. So then I thought she was better. Then on Sunday afternoon she gets a rash all over. Then Monday it was still there. I call the nurse line and they say it's Roseola and that she's no longer contagious. The rash should go away in a few days. What is Roseola you ask:

Roseola (also known as sixth disease, exanthem subitum, and roseola infantum) is a viral illness in young children, most commonly affecting those between the ages of 6 months and 2 years. It is typically marked by several days of high fever, followed by a distinctive rash just as the fever breaks.

Sounds exactly like what she has. The rash is better today but she's so crabby. I also think her molars are poking through, I'm sure that hurts.

The Apple Orchard

We went to the apple orchard last Saturday (09/20). We of cours forgot our camera. The kids had a lot of fun there. They had goats, chickens, geese and ponies to pet. Xavier fed the ponies some hay and he thought it was so funny when they ate it off his hand. They had a little play area too. We went on a tractor/hay ride around the orchard. Then we did the Apple Cannon. It's a thing that shoots apples out using compressed air. Xavier rode the Cow Train ride and loved it. We bought some apples, which I'm planning to use to make an apple pie this weekend. I wish I would have brought my camera though.

Heroes last night

I watched the 2 hour season premiere of Heroes last night. The two hours went by way too quick because it was so fast paced and so much stuff happened.

Sylar went and found Claire and we found out he doesn't eat the brain to gain power. He just pokes it around with his fingers and takes the power. So he took Claire's power and left her alive. He told her that she was special. So now Claire can't feel when she gets hurt. Sylar then goes to Level 5 to try to steal better powers. He runs into Elle and tries to steel her power but she zaps him and knocks him out and takes out the power in the whole facility and lets all the Level 5 villains out.
Hiro and Ando are in Japan. Hiro is now in charge of his dad's company. His dad leaves him a DVD recording and tells him that he must protect what is in the safe and not to open it. So of course Hiro opens it and there's another DVD. His dad says "I told you not to open it" He then again warns him to keep it safe and not let it get into the wrong hands. So he opens the envelope and there's a piece of paper with a really long chemical on it and then it's out of his hands. Daphne steals it and she can run really fast. She escapes and Hiro find out she lives in France. So he goes to the future to see what will happen if he doesn't get the paper back. In the future he sees future Hiro and Ando fighting and then Ando zaps him with red sparks. So Hiro goes back to present and is afraid that Ando will kill him. They go to Daphne's apartment and she gets back. They track her to Germany.
Suresh and Maya are arguing and Suresh is packing to go back to India. Then he figures out his dad was doing research wrong. He takes blood from Maya and makes something that will give anyone super strength. Maya gets angry and tells him no one should have that power and he should destroy it. Suresh goes to the river to destroy it but decides to inject himself with it. He gets a super power, enhanced senses and superstrength. Him and Maya make up. The next day his back is all peely and he notices he's having side effects.
Future Peter shot Nathan. Because in the future when Nathan told everyone about people with powers they were all hunted and experimented on. But Nathan survives and now he sees Linderman. Peter gets yelled at by Angela and tells him she wants her son back. Future Peter has put Present Peter in the body of one of the Level 5 Villains that have escaped. So he has to find him. Then Angela tells Sylar that she's his mom.
Matt is stuck in the desert and some guy that can see the future saves him.
Niki or is it Tracy is with the Governor. She can freeze people. I think maybe she's Jessica and Niki really is dead.
I thought it was a good episode and can't wait until next week.

The Renaissance Festival

We went to the Renaissance Festival on Saturday with the kids. I had a buy one get one free coupon code that I had used in July to buy tickets online and I printed my tickets out on Friday. Xavier is free until he turns 6 and Olivia is free too. We got there around 10AM, which I think is when they open. It was chilly so we all wore our jackets. We walked around for a bit and looked at some shops.
Then around 11:30 we got soup bread bowls. Dan and I each got one (cream of chicken wild rice). I shared mine with Xavier and Dan shared his with Olivia. We watched a juggling act. We see this guy named Tuey every year. He's been there 28 years. We were sitting in the front row and when he asked for kids volunteers Xavier raised his hand. He said "okay" and when Xavier got up to get the ball from him he said "You looked a lot bigger sitting down". I don't think Tuey realized that Xavier was only 4. So he got up on a ladder and Xavier had to throw the ball up at him. After three failed attempts he had Xavier get up on stage and he threw the ball up at him and Tuey caught it. Xavier was so proud of himself. Then after we'd been watching a while he needed another volunteer and Dan got picked to go up on stage and throw stuff at Tuey on a ladder and then catch things when he was done.
We were going to go see the jousting after that but there was something already going on there and it was so crowded we decided to skip it. Olivia was getting squirmy. So we got some turkey legs (they taste like ham!!). I shared mine with the kids and Xavier at his own.
We walked around some more and looked at the shops. Xavier and Olivia each made wands, this was when we first got there and so they carried them around the whole time. We also bought them each dragon claws there were on necklaces. Olivia loves hers and she kept wearing it all weekend. Xavier likes his too but not as much as Olivia. We also bought Xavier a shield with a dragon on it. Dan colored the dragon in and sprayed it with clear sealer so it wouldn't smudge. Then Xavier announced that he wants go be link for Halloween. So we'll see if I can make a Link costume. We bought him a sword last year at the renaissance.
We also got hot apple dumplings with cinnamon ice cream before we left. I shared with the kids. Then we got some sweet almonds and chocolate covered raisins. We ate some of those in the car.
The kids fell asleep in the car but refused to nap once we got home. They went to bed early though and fell asleep with out much protest. Xavier said he loves the renaissance festival and wants to go back again.

TV - Yay!!

It's September and that means new TV shows and returning TV shows. Here's my list of shows I'll probably be watching.

New Shows:
90210 - CW premieres Monday 09/02 7PM
I already watched it and it wasn't too bad. I was a big fan of the original and it was nice to see Kelly and Brenda from the original series.
Fringe - FOX premieres Tuesday 09/09 8PM
From the creators of Lost. About a plane crash where they all survive but mysteriously die later on. Sort of like X-Files (which I loved) and Lost (which I also love). It also has Joshua Jackson and I really liked him in Dawson's Creek.
My Own Worst Enemy - NBC premieres Monday 10/13 9PM
About a guy that is living a double life but doesn't know it, starting Christian Slater. Looks intereresting too.

Returning Shows:
House - FOX premieres Tuesday 09/16 7PM
Last season left off with the bus crash involving House and Amber. House survived but Amber died and it was kind of his fault. Wilson seems blames House and their friendship is on the rocks.
Supernatural - CW premieres Thursday 09/18 8PM
I only caught this show when I wasn't watching other shows and I catch some reruns now and again. But if I have nothing else to watch I'll watch this show.
Heroes - NBC premieres Monday 09/22 8PM
I LOVE this show and cannot wait for it to return. Last season left off with Sylar getting his powers back. Nathan got shot at the end as he was having a media conference to tell the world about the Heroes. Nikki supposedly died, but she probably didn't. Oh I can't wait!!
Survivor:Gabon - CBS premieres Thursday 09/25 7PM
New survivors back in Africa.
Grey's Anatomy - ABC premieres Thursday 09/25 8PM
Meredith got back together with Derek at the end of the season. Callie turned lesbian. Lexie has the hots for George.
The Offfice - NBC premieres Thursday 09/25 8PM
Jim was going to propose to Pam but just as he was about to propose Andy proposed to Angela and everything got spoiled. Jan is pregnant but not with Michael's baby.
ER - NBC premieres Thursday 09/25 9PM
I haven't watched the last episode of last season yet, it's on a DVD-RW somewhere. I might watch this since it's the last season.
Samantha Who? - ABC premieres Monday 10/06 8:30PM
I only watched this only so I'll probably do the same
Eli Stone - ABC premieres Tuesday 10/14 9PM
Last season left off with Eli getting his brain aneurysm removed and he wouldn't wake up. But he woke up right at the end.

That's it for shows, Lost won't be coming back until January, which kind of sucks!

How Rude!

We planted an apple tree in our side yard in 2005. It's pretty small and this year was the first year we finally got apples. About a month ago we had about 40 or so apples. Then one day we were down to about 20 apples. I figured that maybe it was squirrels or something like that took our apples. After all we have a 4ft chainlink fence. Then last Thursday some time between noon and 3:30PM someone stole the remaining apples. Yes, that's right someone hopped the fence in broad daylight and took 20 under ripe apples. They were small and very sour. We saw footprints on the grass leading from the street, over the fence and to our tree. We figure it was neighborhood kids that took them. Xavier is so sad now because we won't be able to eat any apples. So we're thinking next year we'll put up a motion sensor camera pointing at the tree and catch the person that stole them. I mean I could have called the cops but what are they going to do? They would probably just laugh at me. But theft is theft right? Luckily they didn't go farther into our backyard to steal our tomatoes or our very tiny melon.

We got one!!!!

I went to Wal-Mart yesterday on my lunch break. I was planning to buy a scrapbooking punch along with other things I needed. Well I totally forgot to look for the punch and went back to work. Once I was at work I remembered that I forgot to look for the punch. So I decided to stop after work and see if the had one. I left work 10 minutes early to look for one and got to the store and they didn't have them. So as I'm walking out the door there's this guy that gets stopped by the door greeter and in his cart he has Guitar Hero for wii and...Wii Fit :o So I'm totally surprised that he was able to get one. Dan and I have been looking only for weeks trying to get one and every time I go in the stores I look for one. Well I had forgotten to look when I went there at lunch and also didn't look when I went that afternoon. So I run back to electronics and I'm looking for them and don't see them. Then I notice someone with one in her hand and ask where she got it. She points right behind me and there's only one left. I snagged it before anyone else could take it. So now we have a wii fit. It's actually a lot of fun. Dan and I both like it and Xavier tried it out this morning.

I almost lost my cat

It happened last thursday. I came home and Dan was getting the grill ready and the kids were outside. So I went outside and Aries came out. Then it was time to eat so I brought the kids in and cleaned them up. We ate dinner together. Then we went for a bike ride together. We came home and watched a movie. After the movie I put the kids to bed. Finally at 9:30 at night I ask "Where's Aries?" So I figure she must be down stairs hiding. I look down stairs and no sign of her. I look in our room and each of the kids rooms. By then I figure we had forgotten about her outside!!! So we go out in the backyard with flashlights looking for her. I decide to walk the neighborhood looking for her. So I'm walking down the street with a flashlight yelling "ARIES!". I thought I'd seen her but it was just a rabbit. So I came back and was ready to hop in the car to drive the neighborhood. When suddenly I think, "Hey maybe she went in the garage when we went for that bike ride". So we open the garage up and I shine a light under the cars. There she was under the minivan! She looked terrified and wouldn't come and I couldn't reach her. We finally got her out and she was stinky. She smelled like the garage. I brushed her and gave her like 20 treats. So I've learned my lesson. Never, ever let the cat out again!

Twilight Series

My new favorite books, The Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer. There are currently 3 books out, Twilight, New Moon & Eclipse with Breaking Dawn coming out on August 2nd.

Twilight is about a girl named Bella Swan that moves in with her dad and fall in love with a boy named Edward Cullen. It turns out Edward is a vampire.

New Moon continues the story of Bella. This time Edward leaves and we see how it affects her. She finds a new friend Jacob Black and finds out a secret about him.

Eclipse is about how Bella has to choose between Edward and Jacob.

Breaking Dawn concludes the series and we find out if Bella becomes a vampire.

Neat website

I found this website listed on another blog and thought it was pretty cool. You can check out some books before you buy them. It only has children's books. It has a lot of books listed. It's pretty neat. It's called Lookybook and the link for it: http://www.lookybook.com/index.php I can't figure out how to post the link that you can just click on the name I type and it will send you to the link. I tried but I guess I'm not too compute saavy.

Pictures of the kids

The kids had proffesional pictures done at the beginning of June. Here is the picture we got. Olivia is looking so grown up and so is Xavier. It's weird, her hair looks so light now that she is finally getting some hair.

Also here's another picture of the kids together.

Books

I read Twilight by Stephenie Meyer a while ago. I think it was over a month ago. It was a really good book. Anyways I then reserved the second and third book in the series and I've been on a waiting list at the library forever! I just checked on the status and New Moon is in transit. Which means I'll have it in a day or two. I'm still waiting on Eclipse. I'm in line, 73 of 226. So that means there are 226 people that have reserved that book. They're making a movie out of Twilight and I think that's made the books popular. They're teen fiction books about vampires. I love reading vampire books. I also like vampire movies and stuff. I really liked that show Moonlight but Dan thought it was the stupidest show ever. I don't like the evil vampires but the vampires that have personality. It stinks though that Moonlight was cancelled. They kind of gave the show an ending. Mick (the vampire) ended up with Beth (the mortal). Why they cancel shows I like, I don't know. A while back they cancelled the show Invasion. Yet another show I started watching and ended after one season. At least I still have Lost, two seasons left. Also Heroes, looking forward to the fall. But for the summer I've got a ton of books I can read. So I am excited for finally be reading my new vampire book.

Xavier's blog

I made a new blog for Xavier. He takes so many goofy pictures that I thought it would be fun to post them for people to see. I made the blog by invitation only so I'll have to invite some people. Needless to say it is a work in progress. T-ball starts tomorrow so I'll have to bring my camera.

Books & Movies

I've just re-read Eragon. The new book Brisingr is coming out in September and I'm so excited for it. I read both books (Eragon & Eldest) when I was on maternity leave after Olivia was born. I saw the movie shortly after I read the book and the book is WAY better. Books are always way better than their movie. Don't get me wrong, I really like the movie but I think I have to view the movie as just a movie and not compare it to the book. The book talks so much about Eragon raising Saphira and gives you so much background on the Dragon Riders. Also you get more back story on Brom. You find out that Brom was friends with Morzan before he betrayed the riders and joined Galbatorix. Also it's so unbelievable that the book was written by a 16 year old. I don't think I could have written anything like that when I was 16. I was planning to re-read Eldest next but I reserved a copy of Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. I heard they are making that into a movie soon too. I looked it up on IMDB and it says that it is currently filming with a release date of Dec. 12, 2008. In other movie news, Half-Blood Prince is coming out Nov. 21, 2008. Right now Prince Caspian is out in theaters and the new Indiana Jones movie is coming out next week.

TV, need I say more?

Like I've said before, I watch WAY too much TV. Thursdays are by far the busiest. I watch Survivor on CBS at 7PM. Oh can you believe both Ozzy and Jason got so blindsided? What idiots! Then I switch over to NBC and watch The Office. I was bummed last week when I saw Scrubs got moved to 7:30PM and I totally missed it. I'll have to record it this week and maybe catch up with last week's online. Then I switch over to ABC and watch Lost. So then I have to record ER and watch it later. And Grey's Anatomy I watch online some time in the weekend. As for the rest of the week I watch a show almost every night. Sundays I have to watch Desperate Housewives at 8PM. Mondays House is back at 8PM and then it's Medium at 9PM. Tuesdays are kind of slow and there's nothing I absolutely have to watch but I watch Beauty and the Geek at 7PM and Reaper at 8PM. Wednesdays absolutely nothing again, but if I'm home I'll watch America's Top Model at 7PM and Supernanny at 8PM. Thursdays I've already mentioned above. On Fridays it's Moonlight at 8PM and then Numb3rs at 9PM. I've grown attached to Moonlight and have to watch it now, but Numb3rs I can miss. I am such a vampire geek I love vampire books (Anne Rice, I've read all her vampire books) and vampire movies. I don't know I guess I'm fascinated by them and have been since I was in high school. Last week I missed Moonlight so I watched it online after I watched Grey's Anatomy. How did the world survive before there was TV? I guess back then people had more work to do like farming and making their own clothes. We are so spoiled nowadays. I do sew though and made Olivia a pillowcase dress but it hasn't been warm enough for her to wear it yet. I might make her another dress I found a different pattern online for one. I got these really cute buttons at Wal-mart last week that I'm going to use as accents on her dress. Maybe I'll even make her a skirt. We'll see, I'll post some pictures of my finished work whenever I get around to doing it.

I found a recipe

I was surfing through some message boards and came across a thread that talked about making your own coffee at home and making it taste like Starbucks/Caribou. Well I love to get coffee at those places but who can afford $5 a day on that kind of thing. So usually I buy some flavored creamer at the grocery store and use my cappucino maker to just make some strong coffee. Well I haven't drank any caffeine in about two years so I made decaf. I'm not drinking the coffee to wake me up but more as a treat. I bought some cinnamon vanilla creamer last time I went to the grocery store and got non fat which is actually pretty tasty just not as thick as the regular stuff. Anyhow I found a recipe on how to make your own vanilla syrup and Starbuck Mocha Frappuccino. I haven't tried either recipe but they do sound very tasty. Here are the recipes. If anyone tries them let me know how they turn out. I might try them this weekend when I have more time.

Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino

3 cups double-strength freshly brewed dark roast coffee
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, plus additional cocoa powder for garnish
1 cup nonfat milk

Fill ice-cube trays with half of the brewed coffee and place in the freezer. In a bowl, combine the remaining brewed coffee, cocoa powder and milk and stir to dissolve the cocoa. Cover and chill. When the ice cubes have frozen, transfer them to a kitchen towel and, using a hammer or mallet, crush the cubes. Fill 2 glasses with the crushed ice and divide the coffee-cocoa mixture evenly among them. Dust the top with cocoa powder and serve.
Serves 2.

Vanilla Syrup

2 cups water
1.5 cups sugar
¾ tsp vanilla

Combine 2 cups water and 1.5 cups sugar in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes and then add ¾ tsp vanilla. Remove from heat and cool and store in covered container.

What Xavier did yesterday

I let Xavier play in the backyard while I was feeding Olivia when I got home from work yesterday. I went to go check on him and find him playing with the burned wood in the fire pit. So I tell him to get out of there and he looks over at me and I see he has soot on his face. So I tell him to come in the house to get cleaned up. Then I notice it's on his hands, jacket and pants. I was trying to yell at him but it was funny and so I got some pictures. Here they are.

Is it winter or spring?

So at the end of last week it was nice and warm. We went for walks and played outside. Monday I had to pull out the winter coats from the closet again. It's been in the 30s every morning this week. Then I hear it's supposed to snow later! Why can't it warm up and stay warm? Here's what they're saying for the rest of the week:

Wednesday: cloudy high 51, low 32
Thursday: rain/storms high 45, low 36
Friday: rain/snow high 38, low 33
Saturday: snow high 40, low 30
Sunday: sunny high 46, low 28

Does that seem like spring or winter? Hopefully next week it will start to warm up.

Olivia's birthday

This was on her actual birthday, wearing her pretty dress:

Eating her birthday cake:

She had a great first birthday. She got a lot of really cute outfits. She's going to be so well dressed this summer. A few toys too that she shares with her big brother. I can't believe my baby is already a year old. Time goes by way too fast and children grow up too fast.

Book Review: Overbite - Meg Cabot

Overbite - Meg Cabot Meena Harper has a special gift, but i's only now that anyone's ever appreciated it.  The Palatine Guard--...
