Lost - 01/28

So some thoughts on last night's episode. I knew that Widmore was one of the guys that Juliet and Sawyer caught. I thought last night's episode was good. It answered some questions but it did raise some as well.
Desmond is trying to find Daniel's mother. He told him to go to Oxford to find her. I was a little confused as to why he would tell him that. Was he supposed to find his mother there or just information on how to reach her. Maybe she was a professor at Oxford too. I'm thinking she's that Hawkins lady that we saw at the end of last week talking to Ben. I think she we also saw her when Desmond was time traveling. Was she ever on the island? Anyhow Desmond goes to Oxford asking for Faraday. But he finds out that Faraday's research and himself were basically erased from Oxford. He finds the old lab, since he had been there before and finds out that something happened to some girl and that Daniel was responsible. Whatever happened to that girl, afterwards Daniel went to the U.S. and was never heard from again. So Desmond find the girl, Theresa (I think that's her name) and we see that she's in a vegetative state. I'm thinking that Faraday either intentionally or on accident tried the experiment on her and messed her up. So she's time traveling just like Desmond was.
On the island, Daniel, Charlotte and Miles get caught by others. They think they're military for some reason and they have an H-bomb. Daniel says he will render it inert for them and they think he's on a suicide mission. He convinces them to trust him by telling them he loves Charlotte (which we already knew) and that he would never let anything happen to her. They agree and a girl named Ellie escorts him to the bomb. He tells her that she looks familiar. I'm thinking that maybe she's his mom. I'm sure we'll find out more about her later. He sees that the bomb has a crack in it and tells her they need to bury it. I don't remember this but did he dig that bomb up before? He tells her it will still be in the ground in 50 years. Charlotte has horrible headaches still and Daniel is concerned. I think it has something to do with being born on the island (I think she was born there) and then coming back and experiencing all that time travel.
Locke talks to Richard (who never ages!) and gives him the compass. He tries to figure out how to get off the island but Richard won't tell him. Also he meets Charles Widmore.
So as Locke is talking to Richard, Daniel talking to Ellie they flash again and time travel. The camp is gone, the bomb is gone. When are they now? Oh and the Charlotte gets a bloody nose again and passes out and Daniel seems very upset.
I'm wondering if they are just traveling back in time more and more or if it's totally random. At first I thought it was random when they were trying to find the hatch and it wasn't there and then it was, but I think maybe they just keep getting further and further back in time.

My favorite

People who have known me for a while know that seahorses are my favorite animal. But actually I have another favorite animal, the polar bear. Every time I go to Como Zoo I look forward to seeing the polar bears. I don't know what it is about them but they are so cute! They are really cool looking. Their paws are humongous and their fur pretty much repels water. I went to the zoo in Duluth and they also have a polar bear. He was playing catch with a big red ball. Here are some pictures I had from Como Zoo. Now you can see what a magnificent creature polar bears are.

So what is your favorite animal?

It's Monday :(

My weekend was good. Friday I went to my employee party. We got home around 11pm. The kids spent the night at in-laws. Saturday morning I went grocery shopping and then we went to pick the kids up. O really wanted to come home, while X was perfectly happy staying at grandma & grandpa's. Then Saturday night my dad came over for dinner and we watched The Mummy with him. Yesterday we went to Lowe's and I got a big palm tree for my house. I have to repot it because the pot it's in is too small. The palm is about as tall as me if not taller. Other than that I didn't do much. I watched Someone Like You on Hulu. I love that website! I can watch cheesy movies that Dan will never watch with me. Then I made pizza for dinner. Now it's back to work, although I haven't done too much of that. Heroes, Chuck and Medium start a week from tonight.

02/02/09

That's when Heroes starts. Also I heard Chuck will be 3-D, where do I get my glasses? I must investigate this.

No plans for the weekend. Tonight is my employee party and so the kids are spending the night at my in-laws. Other than that we have laundry (like always), clean the house and what not. It's supposed to cool down again this weekend so I don't really plan on going out. Well except for grocery shopping.

Lost - 01/21

The season premiere was last night and it was 2 hours long. It still left many unanswered questions and it had me trying to figure out some logic. My best way to recap this episode is to go by each character or group of characters.

Daniel Faraday - He was on the island before. Back when the Dharma Initiative was starting up and building all their stations. They come across a wall they can't dig through and they get a print out of what behind it and it looks like the lever that Ben turned to move the island. Plus all the workers can drill there and it melts the drill and one of the workers passes or dies with his nose bleeding. I'm assuming this is important. So I'm assuming that Daniel has time traveled somehow since he was on the island that long ago. We are then back to the present and he's on the boat going back to the island. He makes a comment about how they were inside the radius. So he knows that the island has moved. He gets back to the beach and tries to tell the other castaways that they are moving through time and he has to figure out "when" they are. They find the hatch, the one that Locke found and that Desmond is in. Sawyer goes to the back door and knocks but Faraday says they can't meet since they've never met. But after they all leave he talks to Desmond and tells him to go to Oxford and find his mother. Because the rules don't apply to Desmond.

Desmond - He's still with Penny and he wakes up and says he had a memory. The memory would be that he talked to Faraday. I'm assuming it doesn't matter when and where Faraday and Desmond are since they are each other's constants they can always talk to each other.

Jack - We start off with Ben and him looking over Locke (dead). He tells Jack that they need to round up the Oceanic 6 and go back to the island. Jack finally shaves his ugly beard.

Sayid - He rescues Hurley and takes him to a safe house. Except there are men waiting for him and he kills them but in the process get darted and passes out.

Hurley - He takes Sayid to his parents house. Cops come looking for him but his dad tells them he's not there. His dad takes Sayid to Jack and Jack helps Sayid. In the process Jack calls Ben and tells him he has Sayid. Ben visits Hurley and tells him that they have to go back. Hurley doesn't trust Ben and turns himself into the cops.

Kate - She leaves her house after some lawyers come telling her they need a blood sample from her to make sure she's Aaron's mom. She freaks out and runs off. She gets a call from Sun and meets with her. Sun tells her she doesn't blame her for Jin's death. She also tells her that wouldn't she do anything to keep Aaron safe.

Sun - She meets with Widmore and they both want Ben dead. I think she's the client of the lawyers and the reason she did that was to get Kate's help in killing Ben.

The Islanders - They keep traveling through time. Charlotte gets a bloody nose and Daniel seems to know what is causing it. Sawyer and Juliet get captured by Others. A young guy asks them what they're doing on his island. I'm sure that guy is important. Maybe he's a young Ben or Widmore?

Locke - He's also time traveling on the island. He sees a small plane crash and we know that the plane is the same one that we saw before that had Echo's brother. He tries to get it but gets shot in the leg. He skips time again and this time the plane has been there for a while. He runs into Richard and he gets the bullet out of his leg and tells him that next time they meet they won't know each other. He gives Locke a compass and tells him to clean the wound every couple of hours. Then we see Locke again rescuing Sawyer and Juliet.

So this season will be about how they get the Oceanic 6 back to the island and why exactly they have to go back. By them going back will the other castaways stop traveling through time? Will all this time travel eventually kill them? I can't wait for next week!

First Time

First I'd like to thank everyone for the kind words about my grandma. I'm doing a lot better with it today.

I was going to post about my weekend (the good things) but I was too upset yesterday. We went sledding on Sunday. First time every for me, X and O. We went to park near Dan's parent's house, I can't remember the name of it. Anyhow we stayed for about an hour. We only have two sleds, a saucer sled and a long torpedo sled. We took turn going down with the kids. X when down by himself once but he kind of flipped of when he stopped and he didn't want to do it by himself. We played at the playground for a little bit and then did more sledding. By the time we were done it was lunch time. The kids had so much fun that they were crying when we left. Hopefully we get a chance to go again.

Bad News

First X's goldfish died. He was really sad about it on Sunday and cried. We flushed him down the toilet and X and O said goodbye to him. That fish was about 4-5 inches long and almost 2 years old. Then this morning I got a phone call from my mom that my grandma died. This is the grandma that lives in Guatemala, the one that raised me until I was nine and I called her Mama. She had been sick for a while so we knew it was coming but it still hurts. I really wish I could have been there to see her one last time, but I don't think I could have seen her so sick. I want to remember her how she was when I was younger. I remember her giving me baths when I was really little and making me food. Sending me out to the store to get eggs or things we needed. Giving me extra money so I could get some candy. I remember when she came to visit me here when I was 11. She got to see snow for the first time. She's very old-fashioned and refused to wear pants. So she had stockings on and her dress. She also made clothes for my dolls. She also made me a cute apron, which I still have and my kids now play with. I really wish that I had more pictures of her. I think I might make a scrapbook of the pictures I do have as a way to remember her.

5 Days

Only five days until Lost is back. It's been so long I've nearly forgotten what happened last season. So let's see if I remember correctly. Sayid, Sun, Jack, Kate, Hurley and Aaron all got off the island. Also Desmond but he went with Penny. The media were calling them "The Oceanic Six" and they get free flying privileges for life. Kate said that Aaron was her son and that she gave birth on the island. She also went to court for what she was arrested for and Jack testified for her and she got off. So now she's living in a nice house with Aaron. Jack proposed to her but he screwed things up when he found out she was doing something that she promised Sawyer she would do. Then at the end we see that Locke died and Ben tells Jack that they all have to go back. We assume that Jin died on the boat, I don't think he really died. Sun had her baby and I forget what she named her. She stood up to her father and basically became his boss. Hee, hee. She had a meeting with Widmore and she seems to be helping him. Hurley ends up in a mental hospital where he keeps seeing people from the island, Charlie and Echo. So this season is about them going back to the island (which disappeared because Ben moved it) and seeing what happened to those that stayed behind. I of course will recap the episode on Thursday. I can't wait!

Is it cold enough?

With temps in the last few days being below 0F, many people I know that don't live here have asked me how I can live here. I was wondering that myself this morning when I put gas in my car. I was a big wimp though and payed outside at the pump and got in the car while the gas was pumping. But it's kind of sad that it's been so cold that I haven't let the kids play outside. Even with snowpants, boots, hats and mittens I still think they'll be too cold. X has been asking to play outside and my response is always "It's too cold" but he just thinks I'm being mean. Maybe next week will be warmer and the kids can play outside.

Last night we had Kindergarten Open House. X is very excited to be starting Kindergarten next year and I'm a little sad to see that he is so grown up. In 3 years O will be starting Kindergarten too. Kids do grow up way too fast.

Oh and check it out, I've already read 4 books this year! At this rate I'll probably read over 100 books this year. I'm on page 48 of Club Dead, the 4th book in the Southern Vampire Series.

New Series for me

Last year I read 52 books. It was the first time where I actually kept track of what books I have read and today I counted them. I put them on google docs. So far this year I have finished 1 book. The new book series I am reading is The Southern Vampire Series by Charlaine Harris. She has 8 books with a new one coming out in May. So far I have read 2 of the books, I'm waiting for the 3rd book from the library. I usually don't buy books I just go online to the library and reserved them. Then I pick them up when they're ready. If it an author I already love or a book I really love (such as the Twilight Series) I will purchase the books. So last year HBO turned the first book in the Vampire Series into a show called True Blood. I don't have cable so I was not able to watch it. Plus I hadn't read the book yet. So I finally read the first book and then searched online and found the show online. They have 12 episodes from the first season and I have watched 11 of them. I love the show and I love the books. Although there are some differences between the show and the book (the first season is the first book), they are both good. But if you need a book to read check out The Southern Vampire Series, the first book is Dead Until Dark, also check out True Blood if you get a chance. Be warned though, it is an HBO show so there is nudity, sex and swearing in it.
