Book Review: Midnight Bites - Rachel Caine

Midnight Bites: Stories of the Morganville Vampires
WELCOME TO MORGANVILLE.
YOU'LL NEVER WANT TO LEAVE.

By day, Morganville, Texas, is just a typical college town.  By night, the vampires emerge and take control...

In a town where it's not safe to be out after dark, student Claire Danvers and her friends have had their fair share of thrills.  But Morganville still has a few secrets left to tell.

Now, in this collection, you can venture down the town's strange streets, revisit all the tales you've come to love, and experience six new stories featuring your favorite Morganville residents--both human and vampire...

4/5 stars (really liked it)
Wow, loved the stories.  Especially ones involving Myrnin, since he's my favorite and it was fun to see his past a little more.  Really enjoyed the story with Myrnin and Shane.  Eve is always a favorite.  I really liked that some of these stories took place after the series ended, which gave us a glimpse on where everyone is at after the series ended.

Book Review: Daylighters - Rachel Caine

 Daylighters (Morganville Vampires, # 15)
While Morganville, Texas, is often a troubled town, Claire Danvers and her friends are looking forward to coming home.  But the Morganville they return to isn’t the one they know; it’s become a different place—a deadly one…

Something drastic has happened in Morganville while Claire and her friends were away.  The town looks cleaner and happier than they’ve ever seen it before, but when their incoming group is arrested and separated—vampires from humans—they realize that the changes definitely aren’t for the better.

It seem that an organization called the Daylight Foundation has offered the population of Morganville something they’ve never had: hope of a vampire-free future.  And while it sounds like salvation—even for the vampires themselves—the truth is far more sinister and deadly.

Now, Claire, Shane and Eve need to find a way to break their friends out of Daylighter custody, before the vampires of Morganville meet their untimely end…

4/5 stars (really liked it)

It’s sad to see this series ending but I think that Rachel Caine did a great job putting an end to it.  After everything that Claire, Shane, Eve and Michael have gone through it was good to see where they ended up.  I like how this book was full of many characters we know and newer ones that we had met before.  I would love to see where these characters are in five years.

Book Review: Fall of Night – Rachel Caine

Fall of Night (The Morganville Vampires, #14)
Claire never thought she’d leave Morganville, but when she gets accepted into the graduate program at MIT, she can’t pass up the opportunity.  Saying good-bye to her friends is bittersweet, especially since things are still raw and unsettled between Claire and her boyfriend, Shane.

Her new life at MIT is scary and exciting, but Morganville is never really far from Claire’s mind.  Enrolled in a special advanced study program with Professor Irene Anderson, a former Morganville native, Claire is able to work on her machine, which is designed to cancel the mental abilities of vampires.

But when she begins testing her machine on live subjects, things quickly spiral out of control, and Claire starts to wonder whether leaving Morganville was the last mistake she’ll ever make…

4/5 stars (really liked it)
I always look forward to reading a new Morganville book and this book does not disappoint.  Claire is in a new town and when she thinks she’ll left all that vampire business in Morganville she is wrong.  She is living off campus with a friend from High School who has changed and not in a good way, with a stalker ex-boyfriend.  Also without her knowledge, Shane follows her to Boston.  I loved seeing Claire adjust to her new environment but yet her that Morganville paranoia intact.  We also did not leave our favorite Morganville vampires behind because they follow Claire.  Also a new bad guy or is it a good guy arrives in Morganville.  I’m looking forward to what the next book will bring.

Book Review: Bitter Blood - Rachel Caine

Bitter Blood (The Morganville Vampires, #13)
Thanks to the eradication of the parasitic creatures known as the draug, the vampires of Morganville have been freed of their usual constraints. With the vampires indulging their every whim, the town’s human population is determined to hold on to their lives by taking up arms. But college student Claire Danvers isn’t about to take sides, considering she has ties to both the humans and the vampires.

To make matters worse, a television show comes to Morganville looking for ghosts, just as vampire and human politics collide. Now, Claire and her friends have to figure out how to keep the peace without ending up on the nightly news… or worse

4/5 stars (really liked it)
Rachel Caine never dissapoints me with these books.  I love the different point of views.  I would have liked to have had Myrnin's point of view a little bit more.  This book made me realize how much Claire has grown up and how much braver she is.  We see the aftermath of Michael and Eve's marriage.  The human population is not happy with Eve for being with with a vampire and the vampire population is not happy with Michael for being with a vampire.  Because Michael is Amelie's bloodline that gives Eve a higher status.  Also there is a new Captain Obvious in town and I was a little surprised on who it was.  I loved the ending and it seems like this series is really taking a different direction.  I am very curious to see what will happen in the next book.

Book Review: Black Dawn - Rachel Caine

Black Dawn (The Morganville Vampires, #12)
In Last Breath, the rain brought a new and dire threat to Morganville and its vampires... their ancient enemies, the draug. Now, the vampires are fighting a losing war, and it will fall to the residents of the Glass House: Michael, Eve, Shane and Claire, to take the fight to an enemy who threatens to destroy the town, forever.

Lovers of Morganville, rejoice: Black Dawn takes the intrigue, romance and nail-biting suspense of the series to its highest level yet!

5/5 stars (it was amazing)
Every time I read a book in the Morganville Vampire Series I wonder how Rachel Caine will keep me interested and keep me wanting to read more.  She does it every time.  Black Dawn does not disappoint.  There is plenty of Myrnin (my favorite character).  As much as I love Shane/Claire I think I would love to see Myrnin/Claire.  Oliver is becoming a much more interesting character and I am not liking Amelie as much as I had before.  This books starts right where the last on left off.  The Draug are there and the Vampires reluctantly join forces with the Humans to fight them.  Michael & Eve are still a little rocky because of the fact that Michael bit her and couldn't stop.  We get a little more of Richard, Hannah and Monica.  Also Miranda and Jason make an appearance!  Also two deaths that I was surprised about.  Overall a great book!

Book Review: Overbite - Meg Cabot
