I've been inspired

I came across a tutorial for a cute purse.  It actually doesn't look too difficult to make so I'm going to try to make it this weekend.  I'll take some pictures and post when I'm done.  Here is the link to the tutorial I'm going to use: Little Girl Pearl Purse Tutorial

I'm an okay sewer and have made a few little things for my kids.  I'm great at making pants and shorts from old t-shirts and fabric.  I'm always on the look out for cute fabric.  I like making little bags for the kids and/or myself.  But I usually just make simple things that don't require a pattern.  So we'll see how this goes.  I do however follow a pattern when crocheting something.  I am working on a couple of things for X's birthday, which is next week so I better get on that.  I'll post the finished product when I'm done.

Small let down

I've blogged about this before, my love of vampire books.  I've read Anne Rice books since I was in high school and love the Twilight Series and have also read a few more series.  The series I'm disappointed in is the Vampire Diaries Series.  I read the first 4 books before the CW TV show came out.  Those books are The Awakening, The Struggle, The Fury, Dark Reunion.  Those books I enjoyed, they were written in the early 90s.  The latest book The Return: Nightfall came out last year and I read it and was not happy with it.  She should have left it at 4 books. Then the new one came out in March The Return: Shadow Souls and I heard it was better than book 5.  So I began reading it and 100 pages in I am giving it up.  I really do not like it and no longer care about the characters.  This is one time when the TV show is better than the books.  So I'm re-reading Twilight and planning to read through Eclipse since the movie is coming out at the end of next month.  I'm so excited!

New Book Series

My friend bought me a book for my birthday and I finally read it last month.  It is Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead.  It is a vampire series about a girl named Rose.  She's 17 years old and a Dhampir (half vampire, half human) and she is a guardian.  Her best friend Lissa is a Moroi (alive vampire).  They are bonded because Lissa brought Rose back to life.  Rose is going to be Lissa's guardian and they protect Moroi from Strigoi (undead vampires).  There are 4 books out right now with a new one coming out May 18th and the last book in the series coming out later this year.  I really enjoyed this series and right now I'm waiting for the new book to come out to read it.  It is the Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead.  Here are all the books in the series:

Como Zoo

We took the kids to Como Zoo on Sunday.  They were having a Polar Bear day since the new Polar Bear Exhibit is opening on June 3rd.  The kids got to make a polar bear mask, color some pages, got some stickers and then we got a free tree.  An ironwood tree to be exact.  The kids had a lot of fun there.  We'll have to go back again once the exhibit is open.

Every time we go we never see the wolves.  We were lucky enough to see them this time.  O kept howling at them to try to get them to come closer to us:

French Regional Park

We took the kids to French Regional Park on Friday and they had a great time.  We spent a long time at the park and then walked down to the lake.  Here are some pictures from their fun time.

Sidewalk chalk fun

This was the weekend of Easter and the kids wanted to go out and do some sidewalk chalk.  Starting to feel like summer when you can go out and do this.
