Returning Shows and New Shows

Now that Christmas is over most shows are returning to finish off their season, some have already returned.  Here are some shows I'm looking forward to (all times are central times):

V returned but I really gave up on that show so not watching it this season.  Also have given on up on Desperate Housewives.  A show I should have given up on a while ago.

Hawaii Five-0 on CBS returned Monday, January 3rd at 9PM.  This is a new show that I'm really enjoying.

No Ordinary Family on ABC returned on Tuesday, January 4th at 7PM.  It a pretty good show and my kids seem to like it.

Modern Family on ABC returned Wednesday, January 5th at 8PM.  Watched this show on and off last season and really started watching it this season.  The show is very funny and I laugh every time I watch it.

Grey's Anatomy on ABC returned on Thursday, January 6th at 8PM.

The Cape on NBC debuted on Sunday, January 9th at 8PM.  The first two episode were aired then and it was interesting.  I'll probably watch it again next week on it's regular night, Mondays at 8PM.

Off The Map on ABC aired last night and I watched about half of it and didn't care for it at all.

Chuck on NBC returns on Monday, January 17th at 7PM.  I love this show, I've been watching it since the first episode aired and haven't missed a single episode.

Being Human on SyFy debuts on Monday, January 17th at 8PM.  I am a big fan of the BBC version of this show and I'm not sure how I feel about an American re-make of it.  I might check it out if I have a chance.

Fringe on FOX is moving to Fridays, it returns on Friday, January 21st at 8PM.  I'm a big fan of this show and I am really liking this new season.  I'll be watching!

The Vampire Diaries on CW returns on Thursday, January 27th at 7PM.  I read the first four books by LJ Smith and started reading the 5th and gave up on it.  This is one TV adaptation that is better than the books.  I really enjoy what they've done with it.  So I'm definitely watching!

Supernatural on CW returns on Friday, January 28th at 8PM.  I LOVE the Wnchester boys and I'm so glad that last season was not the end.  I'm liking how there is a new monster every week and it's not too focused on a big plot like the last few seasons were.  This feels more like Season 1 when I fell in love with the show.

Glee on FOX returns Sunday, February 6th after the Super-bowl and then back to it's regular night Tuesdays at 7PM.  I caught up on this show this summer after hearing how great it was and it is a great show.

The Big Bang Theory was new last week (CBS Thursdays at 7PM) but not this week.  I heard it's been renewed for three more seasons.

Survivor:Redemption Island on CBS returns Wednesday, February 16th at 7PM.  This season has Boston Rob and Russell each taking a team and completing against each other.  Should be interesting to watch.

Shows to look forward too this summer are True Blood and Psych.

New Year, New Books

This is a series I've been reading since last year.  It's an adult series by Richelle Mead.  She is the author the Vampire Academy Series and this is the Georgina Kincaid Series.  This is from Richelle Mead's Website:

Vampire Academy Series

Two races of vampires walk our world. The Moroi are alive and wield elemental magical, while the Strigoi are undead and evil--feeding on the innocent to survive. Rose Hathaway--a half-vampire with poor impulse control--is training to be a bodyguard for a Moroi princess. Learning to decapitate and stake is hard enough, but Rose's real danger may lie in an illicit romance with one of her instructors...
This is Richelle's only young adult series. It's received honors from the American Library Association and been on the New York Times and USA Today Bestseller lists.

Georgina Kincaid Series
As if love wasn't hard enough! Imagine not being able to touch your boyfriend without sucking away his soul. Welcome to the world of Georgina Kincaid, a reluctant succubus who always seems to find herself in the middle of supernatural intrigue...
This adult urban fantasy series marked Richelle's debut as a published writer. NYT Bestselling author Jim Butcher had this to say about Succubus Blues: ""...an engaging read, with an unusually tangible, believable, living story world, featuring a protagonist of unexpected depth and sympathy."

The books are as following for the Georgina Kincaid Series:
Succubus Blues
Succubus on Top
Succubus Dreams
Succubus Heat
Succubus Shadows
Succubus Revealed (September 2011)
NO COVER YET

So far I have only finished the first three and I'm currently reading the fourth one, Succubus Heat.  They are really fast reads and really addicting.  I highly recommend them.

New Year 2011

Happy New Year!

It's hard to believe another year has passed.  My family and I had a great holiday.  My kids have way too many toys, they sure are lucky.  Dan had his birthday on the 28th and got more gifts (some wii games and tools).  I have to wait two months until my birthday.  I told Dan that I want pizza and an ice cream cake for my birthday.  I also have to start thinking about O's birthday, which is in March.  She will be turning 4 this year, which is so hard to believe.  I'll have to see what she wants for her party.  Last year it was Strawberry Shortcake and that included decorations, strawberry cupcakes and plates.  I'm sure she'll want Princess or Barbies or even Spider-Man.  For some reason she LOVES Spider-Man, which when you think about it, what is there not to love.

With the new year I have been thinking of some resolutions:
1.  Exercise more -  I do exercise already but I'm thinking I need to do it longer
2.  Read more books - In 2009 I read 66 books and in 2010 I read less, 61 books.  So I am thinking my goal should be 70 books this year.
3.  Be more patient with the kids - I tend to loose my patience when they don't listen and raise my voice.  So I will stay calm.

That's all I have for now.  I think three is a good start.  :)

Christmas 2010

Wow!  I can't believe Christmas has arrived, well almost.  Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and luckily I get the day off work.  I am done with all my Christmas shopping, wrapping and baking.  Santa is all set to come tomorrow night and fill the kids' stockings.  The kids are both home with Dan today.  He was lucky enough to get two weeks off since he works at a school and X has the same two weeks off.  Me on the other hand, I get Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve off.  I did take Monday & Tuesday off so I get a five day weekend.  Dan's birthday is on Tuesday.  So we will be doing something fun for it, although I'm not sure what.  I do want to go sledding some time this weekend though.  The weather should not be too cold and we're supposed to get more snow tomorrow.  X has been playing outside pretty much everyday and  he just loves it out there.   He can stay outside for hours.

Supernatural - Appointment in Samarra

Looks like this was the last episode for the year and they left it at a cliffhanger of course.  Starts out with Dean going to see a Dr at a butcher shop.  He wants to die and come back to meet with Death.  So he does and meets with Tessa (a reaper).  He asks her to get her boss and she says he's busy and she can't just call him but he comes on his own.  Dean tells Death that he wants to bring Sam's soul back to him and that he'll give him the ring back for it.  Death says that he can bring the soul back and put up a wall so Sam won't remember Hell.  He wants Dean to wear the ring for 24 hours and do Death's job.  If he takes it off then the deal is off.  So Dean comes back to life and tells Sam & Bobby that he's going to do it.  He puts the ring on and Tessa is there to help him.  First up is a guy robbing a store and he gets shot by the owner.  No big deal for Dean.  Then a guy having a heart attack, again no big deal for Dean.  Then at the hospital it's a 12 year old girl with a heart condition.  Dean refuses and Tessa says there's consequences.  Sure enough a nurse goes home early and gets in a car accident and dies.  Her boyfriend is very distraught and gets drunk and drives and Dean sees him and tries to save him.  In the process he takes the ring off and saves him.  He then puts the ring back on and gets the little girl because he knows that he's disrupted the natural order of things.

Meanwhile Sam doesn't want his soul back and calls Balthazar to help keep his soul out.  He tells Sam that there is a spell but he needs the blood of his father.  He needs the blood of his father, but his father need not be blood.  So of course it's Bobby!  So Sam tries to get Bobby and in the end as he's about to stab him Dean comes and saves him and they lock Sam up.

Dean meets with Death again and they talk.  Even though Dean took the ring off Death says he'll get the soul back because Dean is on the right track with Souls and he will be useful.

We end with Death coming to Sam, who is tied down and Dean & Bobby watching while Death puts his soul back.

So will Sam be back to normal or will something still be wrong with him?  We won't find out until January.

Supernatural - It's been a while...

I kept meaning to post about the episode "Clap Your Hands if you Believe".  It was a good episode and I love it how Dean got "abducted" and then he fought back and they didn't want him.  Turned out it was fairies and they were taking first born sons because the watch maker made a deal with them.  Sam could have made a deal with the head fairy but he decided not to.  It was a good episode.  I did not get to see "Caged Heat" yet but I heard that Meg is back and so is Castiel.  Here are some pictures from both episodes.

Last weekend and more

Last week we were all still recovering from Strep.  O developed a rash on Sunday night and she had been complaining of her throat hurting and she had a fever.  So I took the day off last Monday and took her to the Doctor and she had Strep.  I'd had a sore throat since Friday and Dan was starting to get one too so the Dr gave us all antibiotics.  Just a couple more days of medicine.  Apparently the kids' medicine tastes "yucky" and they hate taking it.  At least we are all feeling better now.
I'm nearly done with the Christmas shopping and X has been a great helper wrapping.  He writes the names on the labels for me and puts them on along with a bow.  This past week he had his Winter show at school.  It was very cute.  Saturday we went to the Orchestra Hall to see them perform.  I had never been there and the kids thought the place was pretty cool but they got bored just watching an Orchestra play.  We walked around downtown for a little bit and then headed home and watched Eclipse.
O calls the movies "Mommy's Bella Movies" and she wanted to watch Eclipse again last night.  X on the other hand knows all their names and he was excited to see Eclipse.  He know by the music when a "scary" part is coming and will usually leave the room.
I also got my Christmas cards ordered so I should get them soon and then I can start mailing.  Only three weeks until Christmas!  I have to start baking this weekend.
Also looking forward to Saturday when me and my friend are going to Barnes & Noble at MOA to meet Richelle Mead.  She is the author of The Vampire Academy Series, with the new and last book in the series, The Last Sacrifice, coming out tomorrow.  She has also written the Georgina Kincaid Series, which I'm currently reading.  So excited to be meeting her and having her sign my books.
